2022 CrossFit Games Events — Individuals, Teams, Adaptive & Age Group

The 2022 CrossFit Games consists of 13 Individual, eight Adaptive and Age Group, and 11 Teams events over five days of competition.

The 2022 NOBULL CrossFit Games take place from Aug. 3-7, 2022, in Madison, WI. The top 40 Individual Men and top 40 Individual Women will vie for the title of Fittest on Earth® over five competition days consisting of 13 grueling eventsThe Age Group and Adaptive divisions will face down eight events, and the Teams will do 11 events.

The first day of the competition was set to feature four events, but rain delays shook up the schedule. Aug. 4, 2022 was meant to be a rest day for Individual Women, Individual Men, and Teams, but will now see Event Two for Individuals and Events Two and Three for Teams. Competition for Age Group and Adaptive divisions also kick-off that day. Continuing the Individual competition are two events on Aug. 5, and three more on Aug. 6, followed by a cut of 10 athletes in each division before the final three events on Aug. 7.

2022 CrossFit Games Events — Individuals

The opening day of the Games saw a lot of rain and some unprecedented errors during Event One, during which several athletes miscounted their bike laps and had to be rescored.

Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022

To the surprise of many, Tia-Clair Toomey did not don the leader jersey during the first day of competition.

Event One — Bike to Work

For time:

Time cap: 50 minutes

Event Three — Skill Speed Medley

Three rounds of races through pegboards, jump ropes, pistol squats, and handstand walks:

Quarterfinal Round:

  • Pegboard Ascents — Men: three ascents | Women: two ascents
  • 75 Unbroken Single-Unders
  • 10 Unbroken Pistol Squats (Left)
  • 10 Unbroken Pistol Squats (Right)
  • Handstand Walk Course

Semifinal Round:

  • Strict Pegboard Ascents — Men: two ascents | Women: one ascent
  • 50 Unbroken Double-Unders
  • 10 Unbroken Pistol Squats (Left)
  • 10 Unbroken Pistol Squats (Right)
  • Handstand Walk Course (Pirouette Start)

Final Round:

  • One Strict Pegboard Ascents

Event Four — Elizabeth Elevated

21-15-9-9-9 reps for time of:

  • Squat Cleans
  • Dips with Parallel Bar Traverses

Women: 95-pound cleans | Men: 135-pound cleans

Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022

This was originally a rest day for Individual Women, Individual Men, and Teams. However, weather delays pushed Event Two for Individuals into the rest day.

Event Two — Shuttle to Overhead | Two 100-Point Events

From 0:00-2:00 (two minutes)

  • Run 400 meters
  • Max Jerks

Rest one minute.

From 3:00-6:00 (three minutes)

  • Run 600 meters
  • Max Jerks

Rest two minutes.

From 8:00-12:00 (four minutes)

  • Run 800 meters
  • Max Jerks

Women: 200 pounds
Men: 300 pounds

In each round, athletes will perform the run and then complete as many jerks (shoulder-to-overheads) as possible in the time remaining. This will be scored as two separate 100-point events. The first Shuttle to Overhead event (A) score will be an athlete’s total time to complete the three runs. The second Shuttle to Overhead event (B) will be the total number of jerks completed across the three rounds.

Friday, Aug 5. 2022

The Capitol was the first Individual event to be announced by CrossFit HQ, on Aug. 1, 2022. Event Six wasn’t announced until Friday morning, just before the start of Event Five.

Event Five — The Capitol

For time:

No time cap.

Women: 350-pound Pig, (two) 70-pound Jerry bags, 150-pound Husafell
Men: 510-pound Pig, (two) 100-pound Jerry bags, 200-pound Husafell

Athletes begin with Pig Flips at the AEC Center, then across town to the Capitol. Once there, they will perform farmers’ carries with the Jerry bags, and Husafell carries down State Street, finishing on the steps of the Wisconsin State Capitol building.

Event Six — Up and Over

3 rounds for time:

  • 12 muscle-ups
  • 25 jump-overs
  • 30 GHD sit-ups
    Then,
  • 84-ft weighted lunge

Women: Jump 50-in log, 30-in box, 20-in Pig, lunge 125-lb axle bar
Men: Jump 50-in log, 42-in box, 20-in Pig, lunge 185-lb axle bar

Time cap: 18 minutes

Event Seven — Echo Press

For time:

  • 30/25 Echo Bike calories
  • 10 block HSPU
  • 20/15 Echo Bike calories
  • 10 block HSPU
  • 20/15 Echo Bike calories
  • 10 block HSPU
  • 30/25 Echo Bike calories

Women: 2-in deficit
Men: 3.5-in deficit

Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022

At the end of this day, ten athletes in each Individual division will be cut.

Event Eight — Rinse ‘N’ Repeat

Every 2 minutes:

  • 50-yard swim
  • 8-cal Ski Erg*

*Add 2 calories each round for 6 rounds, then complete as many calories as possible for rounds 7 and 8.

Event Nine — Hat Trick

3 rounds for total time of:

  • Sprint
  • 20 wall-ball shots
  • 6 dumbbell snatches
  • Time cap: 2 minutes per round

Rest 4 minutes between rounds

Women:
14-lb ball to 11 ft
Snatch 70-lb DB

Men:
20-lb ball to 12 ft
Snatch 100-lb DB

Athletes’ scores will be their combined time from each round. They will have to alternate arms on the dumbbell snatches. Event Nine will be performed in two overlapping heats, with one heat working during the other heat’s rest period.

Event 10 — Sandbag Ladder

1-rep-max sandbag-to-shoulder

Women: Bags from 160-250 lb
Men: Bags from 240-340 lb

Sunday, Aug. 7, 2022

This will be the final day of competition for the 2022 Games.

Event 11 — The Alpaca

For time:

126-ft sled push, decreasing in load
2 legless rope climbs**
20 kettlebell clean and jerks
42-ft sled push with 2 KBs
2 legless rope climbs**
15 kettlebell clean and jerks
42-ft sled push with 4 KBs
2 legless rope climbs**
10 kettlebell clean and jerks
42-ft sled push with 6 KBs

Women: Six 24-kg kettlebells
Men: Six 32-kg kettlebells

** On the morning of competition, the rope climbs were eliminated from this event due to safety concerns related to rain.

Event 12 — Back Nine

For time:

  • 54-ft yoke carry
  • 2 front squats
  • 3 deadlifts
  • 2 front squats
  • 54-ft yoke carry

Women: 485-lb yoke, 215-lb squat, 315-lb deadlift
Men: 665-lb yoke, 315-lb squat, 475-lb deadlift

Event 13 — Jackie Pro

For time:

  • 1,000-m row
  • 50 thrusters
  • 30 bar muscle-ups

Women: 65 lb
Men: 95 lb

The Fittest Man and Fittest Woman on Earth® will be crowned on Aug. 7, 2022, after results are tabulated for Event Thirteen, and the leaderboard is officially updated. 

2022 CrossFit Games Events — Teams

The Teams competition will be the final division to wrap up at the 2022 CrossFit Games.

Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022

Event One was interrupted by a two-hour weather delay due to thunder, lightning, and rain. Heat One therefore occurred about a full two hours before Heat Two.

Event One — Biker Bob

Push Bob down the field.

Then, three rounds for time:

  • One-mile Bike (M1F1)
  • 252-foot Bob Push (M2F2, unloaded)
  • 30 Synchro Toes-to-Bars (M2F2)

Then switch. After the final toes-to-bar, push Bob to finish.

Time cap: 40 minutes. For the bike portion, athletes will leave the stadium and ride laps of a one-mile course.

Event Four — Pegs & P-Bars

For time:

  • 15 synchro Worm burpees
  • 15 parallel bar dips (A1)
  • 3/2 pegboard ascents (A4)
  • 15 synchro Worm burpees
  • 15 parallel bar dips (A2)
  • 3/2 pegboard ascents (A3)
  • 15 synchro Worm burpees
  • 15 parallel bar dips (A4)
  • 3/2 pegboard ascents (A1)
  • 15 synchro Worm burpees
  • 15 parallel bar dips (A3)
  • 3/2 pegboard ascents (A2)
  • 15 synchro Worm burpees

Two team members will hold the Worm while the others do their dips and pegboard ascents.

Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022

Originally, Aug. 4 was supposed to be a rest day for the Teams Division. The weather wasn’t having it.

Event Two — Strong

For load:

  • One-rep-max Jerk, F1
  • One-rep-max Front Squat, F2
  • One-rep-max Jerk, M1
  • One-rep-max Front Squat, M2

Each member will have two attempts for their respective max lift. The team’s score will be the sum of each member’s heaviest successful lift.

Event three begins immediately after Event Two.

Event Three — Fast

For time:

  • 1,600-meter Run (as a team)
  • 1,600-meter Run (two members)
  • 1,600-meter Run (two members)

The first run must be completed by all four members, who will run together while holding a 10-foot piece of rope. The second run will be completed by two members while the other two rest. The final run will be completed by the two members who previously rested.

Friday, Aug 5. 2022

Friday’s events remained a mystery through the entire first day of competition.

Event Five — Muscle Pig

4 rounds for time of:

  • 10 synchro muscle-ups
  • 10 Pig flips, per Pig

Women: 350-lb Pig
Men: 510-lb Pig

Event Six — Handstand Machine

2 rounds for time of:

  • 40 Echo Bike calories, each, MM
  • 15 block HSPU, total, FF
  • 30 Echo Bike calories, each, FF
  • 20 block HSPU, total, MM
  • 500-m row, MM, + handstand hold
  • 500-m row, FF,  + handstand hold

Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022

Out of the field of 36 teams, only 20 will continue on to Sunday’s competition. The cuts will occur after Saturday’s events.

Event Seven — Rinse ‘N’ Repeat

Every 2 minutes:

  1. 50-yard swim
  2. 8-cal Ski Erg*

 *Add 2 calories each round for 6 rounds, then complete as many calories as possible for rounds 7 and 8.

Event Eight — Dumbbell Highball

For time, relaying as MM/FF pairs:

  • 42-ft DB OH walking lunge
  • 10 DB clean and jerks
  • 30 wall-ball shots

Then,

  • 30 wall-ball shots
  • 10 DB clean and jerks
  • 42-ft DB OH walking lunge

The men will work down the field and back before the women start.

Women: 70-lb dumbbell, 14-lb ball to 11 ft
Men: 100-lb dumbbell, 20-lb ball to 12 ft

Event Nine — Payload

For time:

  • 50 synchro double-unders
  • Tumbler pull, MM/FF pairs
  • 50 synchro double-unders
  • Jerry can carry, each
  • 50 synchro double-unders
  • Husafell bag carry, each
  • 50 synchro double-unders
  • Big Bob push

Women: 450-lb tumbler, two 70-lb Jerry cans, 150-lb Husafell 
Men: 600-lb tumbler, two 100-lb Jerry cans, 200-lb Husafell 

Sunday, Aug. 7, 2022

This is the final day of competition and will determine which Team is the Fittest.

Event 10 — Team 2, 2, 2, 2

Accumulate 175 overhead squats for time, starting every 2 minutes in M/F pairs:

  • 1 legless rope climb, each**
  • 1 rope climb, each**
  • Shuttle sprint, each
  • Max-rep synchro overhead squats

When 2 minutes is up, the first pair stops and returns while the second pair begins working. Each pair will have up to 4 intervals to work (8 total intervals).

Women: 95-lb OHS 
Men: 135-lb OHS

** On the day of the event, the rope climbs were replaced with shuttle sprints due to weather conditions and athlete safety concerns.

Event 11 — Echo Worm

For time:

  • 50/75-cal Echo Bike
  • 30 Worm squats
  • 30 Worm clean and jerks
  • 30 Worm thrusters
  • 20 synchro bar muscle-ups, each

2022 CrossFit Games Events — Adaptive

The three Adaptive Divisions (Upper Extremity, Lower Extremity, and Neuromuscular) start their competition on Thursday, Aug. 4 and will wrap up on Saturday, Aug. 6.

The Adaptive athletes will work their way through three events on their first day of competition.

Event One — Three Ways Down

The Age Group and Adaptive Divisions largely have the same workouts, with some subtle differences.

Event One — Three Ways Down

  • 168-ft Jerry bag carry
  • 40 wall-ball shots
  • 168-ft sled push
  • 30 wall-ball shots

Event Seven — Rinse ‘N’ Repeat

Starting every 2 minutes:

  • 50-yard swim (25 yards across the pool + 25 yards back)
  • 8-cal Ski Erg* 

*Add +2 cal each round.

Athletes continue as long as they are able to finish the calories before the 2 minutes expires.

If athletes advance past the 6th round (18 cal), the 7th + 8th rounds will be performed for max calories.

Event Eight — Final Sprint

For time:

  • 30/25-cal Echo bike
  • 20 burpee box jump-overs, 42/30 in (all divisions) 
  • 10 sandbag-to-shoulders
