2022 Shaw Classic Will Be Held At Budweiser Event Center

The home of the Colorado Eagles of the American Hockey League will feature strongman competition.

Four-time World’s Strongest Man (WSM) champion Brian Shaw teased a new venue for the third edition of his namesake strongman contest, the Shaw Classic. The 2022 Shaw Classic will be held from Aug. 13-14, 2022, at the Budweiser Event Center in Loveland, CO. The 7,200-seat multi-purpose venue is the home stadium of the Colorado Eagles, a team in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Shaw took to his YouTube channel to share the news and give a tour of the venue where invited strongmen will likely log lift, keg toss, hoist Atlas Stones, deadlift Hummer tires, and more. Check it out below:

A standout feature of the Budweiser Event Center compared to other venues used for strongman contests is the giant scoreboard suspended above the center of the field of play. It will allow for introductions of athletes and replays of lift attempts similar to what one might expect at a hockey or basketball game.

The competing strongmen will have access to the locker rooms and their names will be labeled on their personal cubbies. As they enter the competition floor, they will be surrounded by fans in the round as well as spectators who bought bowl* tickets to get as close to the action as possible.

*Note: the “bowl” is the competition floor where normally a rink or court is installed.

At the inaugural Shaw Classic in 2020, Shaw scored the overall win while JF Caron set a new Hummer tire deadlift world record of 545 kilograms (1,202 pounds). Trey Mitchell scored the biggest competition victory of his career when he claimed the Shaw Classic title in 2021.

Although Shaw has not announced the prize money, events, or official roster yet for the 2022 Shaw Classic, it appears as though the competition is growing exponentially heading into its third year and will be one of the bigger strongman shows of the year to tune into. Tickets for both days of competition are currently available at treventscomplex.com.
