2023 CrossFit Games Individual and Teams Division Events

The 2023 CrossFit Games will kick off on Aug. 1, 2023, in Madison, WI, with the Age Group and Adaptive divisions. On Aug. 3, 2023, the Individual and Teams competition begins, culminating with the award ceremony on Aug. 6, 2023, to crown the Fittest Man, Woman, and Team on Earth.

While CrossFit HQ typically keeps the programming for the Games under wraps until the competition nears — and sometimes leaves events under a shroud of mystery until it happens live — some Games events are released ahead of time. Below are the 2023 CrossFit Games events:

2023 CrossFit Games Events

Note: this article will be updated routinely as more 2023 CrossFit Games events are revealed.

Individual Competition

Below are the events the Individual Men and Individual Women will perform in Madison. Per the CrossFit Games leaderboard, there are 12 programmed events.

August 3

Ride

  • Complete as many laps as possible in 40 minutes on a Trek Bikes Marlin 8 mountain bike.

Pig Chipper

For time:

  • 10 Pig Flips
  • 25 Chest-to-Bar Pull-Ups
  • 50 Toes-to-Bars
  • 100 Wall-Ball Shots 
  • 50 Toes-to-Bars
  • 25 Chest-to-Bar Pull-Ups
  • 10 Pig Flips

Inverted Medley

For time:

  • 30-foot unbroken handstand walk over the ramp
  • Eight free-standing handstand push-ups
  • Unbroken obstacle steps to a 180° pirouette
  • 16 pull-overs
  • Unbroken obstacle steps to a 360° pirouette
  • Eight free-standing handstand push-ups
  • 30-foot unbroken handstand walk over the ramp

August 4

The Alpaca Redux

For time:

  • 126-foot sled push, starting with all six kettlebells 

Then 3 rounds for time:

  • Two legless rope climbs
  • 12 kettlebell clean and jerks
  • 42-foot sled push, starting with two kettlebells*

*add two kettlebells to the sled after each round

Ski-Bag

For time:

  • 30-calorie Ski Erg
  • 30 sandbag squats 
  • 20-calorie Ski Erg 
  • 20 sandbag squats 

Helena

Three rounds for time:

  • Run 400 meters
  • 12 Bar Muscle-Ups
  • 21 Dumbbell Snatches — Women: 35 pounds | Men: 50 pounds

August 5

Cross-Country 5K

For time:

  • Run 5K

Olympic Total

For load:

  • One-rep max Snatch
  • One-rep max Clean & Jerk

Intervals

Two intervals for total time:

  • 21 box jump-overs — Women: 20 inches | Men: 24 inches
  • 15-calorie row
  • Nine  burpee box jump-overs 
  • 21 box jump-overs 
  • 15-calorie row
  • Nine burpee box jump-overs — Women: 36 inches | Men: 48 inches

Rest until the six-minute mark, then:

  • Nine burpee box jump-overs
  • 15-calorie row
  • 21 box jump-overs
  • Nine burpee box jump-overs 
  • 15-calorie row
  • 21 box jump-overs 

Time cap: 12 minutes

August 6

Muscle-Up Logs

Five rounds for time:

  • Seven ring muscle-ups
  • One sandbag over three logs

Rounds one through four — Women: 100 pounds | Men: 150 pounds

Round five — Women: 125 pounds | Men: 200 pounds

Parallel-bar Pull

Eight rounds for time:

  • Down-and-back P-bar traverse 
  • 30 heavy-rope double-unders 
  • One section hand-over-hand sled pull

Echo Thruster Final

For time, 21-18-15 reps of:

  • Echo Bike (for calories)
  • Thrusters — Women: 85, 95, 105 pounds | Men: 115, 135, 155 lb pounds

Then:

  • 66-foot overhead walking lunge — Women: 105 pounds | Men: 155 pounds

Teams Competition

Below are the events the Teams of two men and two women will perform in Madison. Per the CrossFit Games leaderboard, there are 11 programmed events:

August 3

2-2-2-2 Redux

For time in M/F pairs:

  • Accumulate 175 overhead squats

Starting every two minutes:

  • 12/9-calorie SkiErg each (M/F)
  • One seated legless rope climb each (M/F)
  • Max-reps synchro overhead squats
  • When two minutes are up, the first pair stops working and returns while the second pair begins working.

Each pair will have four intervals to work (eight total intervals).

Ride Relay

  • With two bikes per team, max laps in one hour.

August 4

Cross-Country 5K

For time:

  • Run 5K (as a Team)

Olympic Total

For load:

  • One-rep max Snatch
  • One-rep max Clean & Jerk

Bike, Row, Hold

For time:

  • 150-calorie bike + handstand hold
  • 125-calorie row + seated muscle-up and ring support 
  • 100-calorie bike + handstand hold

August 5

Run Lift Relay

Complete as many reps as possible in three minutes — Female One/Male One:

  • 400-meter shuttle run
  • Max-reps snatches

Lift Run Relay

For time — Female One/Male Two:

  • 10 snatches
  • 400-meter shuttle run

Muscle-Bob

For time:

  • Push Bob 126 feet (1,188 pounds)

Then, three rounds of:

  • 10 synchro muscle-ups
  • 15 Worm clean and jerks (340 pounds)
  • 42-foot Bob push

B-Bells and P-Bars

For time:

  • 21/15/9 reps of synchro axle deadlifts — all four athletes (805 pounds)
  • 21/21/21 reps of synchro parallel-bar dips — pair one, then pair two
  • 21/15/9 synchro sandbag squats — pair two, then pair one (125/200 pounds)

August 6

Bob’s A Drag

Four rounds for time of:

  • 500-meter run
  • Jerry carry
  • Log traverse
  • 42-foot synchro Bob pull (66-foot pull on the final round)

Handstand Worm

  • 192-foot handstand walk each

Then,

  • 10 Worm thrusters
  • 24-foot Worm walking lunge
  • 10 Worm thrusters
  • 24-foot Worm walking lunge
  • 10 Worm thrusters
  • 24-foot Worm walking lunge
  • 10 Worm thrusters
  • 24-foot Worm walking lunge
  • 10 Worm thrusters

New Champions?

The only defending champion competing at the 2023 CrossFit Games is reigning two-time Fittest Man on Earth® Justin Medeiros. The reigning Fittest Woman on Earth® Tia-Clair Toomey is not on the 2023 Games roster, nor is reigning Team champions CrossFit Mayhem Freedom.
