The Mule Challenge Details
Before performing the challenge, each competitor must demonstrate the following in their videos submissions:
Confirm No Illegal Equipment
Athletes are not permitted to use any form of tacky, adhesives, or tape. Additionally, gear — such as lifting straps, gloves, or wraps — is also forbidden.
Display Challenge Equipment
Competitors must film the equipment they intend to use for the challenge before performing it. To qualify, the video must clearly show an empty barbell, end caps, and weights. Additionally, the five-foot tape mark between where the participating athlete will perform the deadlifts and the pull-up bar must be visible. Finally, the pull-up bar must be shown with the athlete hanging on it.
Confirm Equipment Weight
Using a calibrated scale, all the weight plates and barbell must be weighed to the correct amounts required by the challenge. All brands are permitted for both the weight plates and barbell.
Camera Position
When performing The Mule Challenge, the camera must be positioned at a 90-degree angle with a timer, the full range of motion of the deadlift, and the chest hitting the pull-up bar all within the frame and unobstructed.
Transition
Positionally, participating athletes must deadlift facing the pull-up bar. Once they complete each round of deadlifts, they must step over the barbell and then perform their pull-ups facing the barbell (so they must turn around). Movement standards are detailed on Roguefitness.com.
The Mule Challenge Prizes
The top three men, women, and gyms (based on total entry) all get some sweet prizes. They are:
- First place man and woman: $2,500 + Ohio Power Bar
- Second place man and woman: $1,000 + Ohio Power Bar
