How are 2018 Games Athletes Performing in the 2019 Open After Week 3?

March 11, 2019 by Eric Dawson

Three weeks down, two to go. And unless Dave Castro introduces a two part workout, there will only be two more scored events for athletes to jump up the leaderboard.

Here’s how 2018 CrossFit Games athletes are faring this year.

The pathway to the top 30/top 25 is firming up.

Consider this: In the past four years only six athletes have come from outside of the top 50 after week 3 to finish in the top 30. Statistically speaking, the athletes on the first page of the leaderboard are your 2019 CrossFit Games qualifiers.

  • There are a total of nine athletes who aren’t doing the 2019 Open.
  • Eleven men and 14 women currently sit in qualifying position.
  • Rich Froning, who’s not on this chart currently sits in 31st worldwide. And will very likely qualify as an individual.
  • The following 15 athletes statistically have a very low chance of qualifying:
    1. Nicholas Urankar – 120th
    2. Mitchel Stevenson – 144th
    3. Alex Anderson – 149th
    4. John Coltey – 162nd
    5. Pablo Chalfun – 592nd (also 9th in Brazil)
    6. Cody Anderson – 648th
    7. Craig Kenney – 4836th
    8. Ben Smith  – 7807th (coming off surgery)
    9. Camille Leblanc-Bazinet – 126th
    10. Becca Voigt – 150th (broken hand)
    11. Eik Gylfadottir – 216th
    12. Paige Semenza – 241st
    13. Lauren Fisher – 358th (already qualified with CrossFit Invictus)
    14. Emily Bridgers – 1489th (retired, coming off injury)
    15. Bethany Shadburne – 33,347 (score unavailable at time of publishing)
