2013 CrossFit Games Winner Sam Briggs Rows & Runs 100 Kilometers (62 miles) for Charity
Samantha Briggs won the 2013 CrossFit Games, but she’s still seriously pushing her limits in 2020. Earlier this year, Briggs competed in “Spartan Games: Battle of the Fittest” and set a world record on the Spartan Games’ DEKA course. She was also one of the 12 finalists in the HYROX World Championship of Fitness event, which wrapped on Dec 12, 2020 (the results will be released on Jan. 1, 2021). Most recently, on Dec. 20, 2020, Briggs rowed 50 kilometers and then ran 50 more for charity. She completed the challenge in a time of 09:10:02. And she did it all for charity.

Her “100KM Challenge” was in hopes of raising money for Cancer Research UK. Briggs originally set a goal of raising £1,450 ($1,937 USD) on the fundraising website, justgiving.com. As of this writing, Briggs has raised £7,309 ($9,767 USD). She performed the rowing portion of the challenge at Train Manchester in Manchester, England. Others in the gym joined Briggs for portions of her row and run at different times throughout the day. She completed the run outside and finished sometime during the night.
Toward the very end of her run, Briggs checked in with her fans on an IGTV video during the last kilometer of the run. She called the overall challenge “the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”

In a post made after she finished, the 38-year-old Briggs expressed gratitude for the support she had already received and shared that anyone interested could still contribute.
“I can’t express how grateful I am to everyone who joined in CrossFit Manchester and from afar,” Brigg said in her post. “Please, if you can follow the link in my bio and donate any amount would be amazing to help raise much-needed funds for cancer research. Walking tomorrow is going to be a struggle, but it’ll all be worth it if we can help out such an important charity.”
