The opening event was a throwback to a 2019 workout that was featured in the inaugural Rogue Invitational — the “Snatch and Press”. The up-and-comers in CrossFit shined in this workout, with Jayson Hopper and Emma McQuaid taking the event wins in their respective divisions.
Event Eight Workout — “Snatch and Press”
Three rounds for time of:
- 20 Dumbbell Snatches — Men: 100 pounds | Women: 70 pounds
- Nine Parallette Handstand Push-Ups — Men: four-inch deficit | Women: two-inch deficit
Event Eight Results
There were no new twists to this classic Rogue Invitational workout. Athletes had 12 minutes to finish three rounds of upper body pushing and pulling. Some athletes struggled with the handstand push-up standards and received multiple “no-reps”.

Women’s Event Eight Highlights
McQuaid became the only athlete in the women’s division to win an event out of the first round. Her time of 6:17.96 not only held up but was over a minute better than the nearest competitor. In fact, the top three times in the event came from the first heat.
Manon Angonese finished in 7:35.28 to place second for her best competition finish. On the heels of her impressive display of power in Saturday night’s “Texas Oak” event, Dani Speegle placed third with a time of 7:40.13.

Alexis Raptis was the top finisher in the final heat, placing fourth overall with a time of 8:10.99. Annie Thorisdottir continued her ascent up the overall leaderboard, collecting another top-5 finish with a time of 8:24.49.
However, the biggest storyline involved current leader Laura Horvath, who struggled three years ago in this event, specifically with the handstand push-ups. She had trouble with “Snatch and Press” again, completing three handstand push-ups and placing 19th.
Men’s Event Eight Highlights
Hopper picked up his second event win of the competition as he dominated the field, finishing 6:56.23, just under a minute better than runner-up Jonne Koski (7:46.01). The former Clemson University football player showed his swagger as he walked across the finish line, hand-raised and chest-pumping.
