For the men, Medeiros was able to place fifth to secure an overall victory over Chandler Smith, who was the only man to clean and press the 300-pound log in Event 7, and got third in Event 10. Jeffrey Adler, who won Event 10, placed third overall.

Event Six — The Duel II

That’s four straight wins for Laura Horvath, folks. In a photo-finish ending during round four, Horvath and runner-up Danielle Brandon were mere tenths of a second apart. Brandon had a slight lead until Horvath dove and rolled over the finish line, edging Brandon out by three-tenths of a second.

In the fifth round, Horvath and Brandon again raced to the finish line, but it was Horvath who out-paced Brandon by half a second.

For the men, Jorge Fernandez had his first top-three finish of the Rogue Invitational, losing to Medeiros in the final round by a single second (and some micro change). Chandler Smith also showed up to take third in this event.

Event Seven — Texas Oak

The women’s heat concluded with Dani Speegle taking the win in this test of max strength. She was the only competitor to press 215 pounds — which isn’t shocking considering her legendary strength (anyone remember the Sandbag Ladder at the 2022 Games?). Laura Horvath came in second to further extend her lead.

For the men, Chandler Smith managed to press the 300-pound Texas Oak log. Runner-up Roman Khrennikov couldn’t manage the lift, though he tried multiple times with Smith cheering him on the entire time.

“It’s not me versus Roman; It’s both of us versus the weight,” Chandler said in his post-event interview. Smith also shouted out Rob Kearney and the Hadge Brothers — Zach and Nick Hadge — who helped Smith prepare for this event

Event Breakdown

Day Two Results

Though Rogue is referring to Oct. 28 as “day one” of their schedule, it’s technically the second day of competition for CrossFit athletes.

According to Rogue’s website and YouTube channel (see the video below), the first event was set to kick off at noon CST or 1 p.m. EST.

CrossFitter Roman Khrennikov celebrates an event win at the 2022 Rogue Invitational.

There were three events for CrossFit athletes and three strongman events on the 28th. In total, CrossFit fans can plan for 10 total events; the strongman competition will include six total events and wrap on Saturday, Oct. 29.

After the second day, Justin Medeiros, the returning champ, leads the men, and Gabriela Migała leads the women

Event Two — Ski Bar

Chandler Smith tends to do well at Rogue, and he showed up for Event Two. He was beaten out by Justin Medeiros by only four seconds, earning himself a second-place finish in the Ski Bar. And while none of the women could beat out the four-inch wooden bar for the muscle-ups, Emma Lawson came closest and took the event win.

Here are the results for both the men and the women:

Event Three — Back Attack

This event combined a strength-focused movement (which Rogue is famous for doing) with a conditioning element in box jumpovers. And if Rogue is famous for strength-focused workouts, Laura Horvath and Jeffrey Adler are famous for beasting them out.

Horvath took Event Three in dominant fashion on the women’s side, while Nick Mathew managed to beat out Adler on the men’s side. For her part, Ellie Turner put on a clinic of her own with a solid second-place women’s finish.
