Before Pierre Desir was a dominant player in the National Football League (NFL), he was just a young kid attending high school at Francis Howell Central in Missouri. He went on to graduate in 2008 and became the first player from his high school to get drafted into the NFL.
Now, years later he’s giving back to one of the places that helped shape him. The Colts’ player has donated a new weight room to his former high school, according to the Indy Star.
The weight room will be called the “FHC Performance Center” and is set to open during the Colts’ bye week which is the second week of October. This timing is so Desir can be in attendance for the big reveal and participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony. Desir has been with the Colts since 2017, and just this year signed a three-year contract extension with them.
The official Twitter account for Francis Howell Central High School’s Activities Department tweeted out some photos to give a sneak peak of the new weight room. They also included a video with the current high school football team thanking Desir for his generous donation.

From what we can see in the photos, the weight room looks incredible and is equipped with plenty of power racks and platforms with a solid area of turf and track for various agility work. We couldn’t help but notice the murals and artwork which had Desir’s name, but also “Champions in all we do” and “P.U.S.H” which stands for “Persistence, Utilize Opportunity, Sacrifice, Hustle.”

We’re looking forward to the official reveal in a couple of weeks, but in the meantime it’s always cool to see professional athletes giving back to the place that helped shape them, especially when it comes to strength and conditioing. We’re confident this young high school football team can hardly weight to get after it in the gym, and who knows, maybe one of them will break through and be the next Desir!
