2023 TYR Wodapalooza CrossFit Team Event 4 Results — Team BPN and Team Panchik Win the Final Day’s Opening Workout

The team athletes found themselves back at the Bayside stage overlooking the ocean for the opening event of the final day of competition at the 2023 TYR Wodapalooza. This workout was a test of grip strength and synchronization as the athletes were put through a test that saw them actively engaging their muscles with little or no rest. 

Team Event Four — “Holds & Climbs”

For time:

  • 12 Rope Climbs* — Four climbs per team member.
  • 48 Synchro Hang Cleans** — Men: 53-pound kettlebells, 50-pound dumbbells, 115-pound barbells | Women:: 35-pound kettlebells, 35-pound dumbbells, 75-pound barbells
  • 12 Rope Climbs — Four climbs per team member.
  • 48 Synchro Shoulder-to-Overhead** — Men: 53-pound kettlebells, 50-pound dumbbells, 115-pound barbells | Women:: 35-pound kettlebells, 35-pound dumbbells, 75-pound barbells
  • 12 Rope Climbs — Four climbs per team member.
  • 48 Synchro Thrusters** — Men: 53-pound kettlebells, 50-pound dumbbells, 115-pound barbells | Women:: 35-pound kettlebells, 35-pound dumbbells, 75-pound barbells

*Two athletes will hold two of the three available implements — a pair of kettlebells, a  pair of dumbbells, and a barbell — while the third athlete completes their rope climbs each round.

**All three athletes will do these three weightlifting movements in sync, each using one of the three available implements. 

Time cap: 20 minutes

Women’s Event Four Highlights

“Team BPN,” consisting of perennial CrossFit Games top-five athletes Gabriela Migała, Laura Horvath, and Jamie Simmonds, made a push to separate themselves from the star-studded pack. They recorded their second-straight event win, crossing the finish line in 14:45.81 ahead of “The Dottirs Ft. MOB,” who in turn recorded their third runner-up finish.

The workout was won in the synchronized weight movement as the team who could do huge chunks of repetitions while minimizing their time resting their grip finished ahead of the pack. Kari Pearce’s team, “A.K.A Humble Killers,” was one of those teams, clocking in at 15:20.26 to take third place and soundly put them into podium contention with three events to go.

Men’s Event Four Highlights

Despite “Team Panchik” only consisting of one of the three Panchik brothers, it didn’t stop them from performing this event as though they were brothers. Spencer Panchik, Jacob Heppner, and Tudor Magda looked like a team that had been together for years as opposed to one thrown-together days before the competition. Their synchronization and communication led them to their first event win of the competition, finishing at 15:14.00.

“Canadian PB&J” suffered some tough no-reps in the final set of synchronized thrusters to ruin any chance of catching the “Team Panchik” but still finished second with a time of 15:25.50. “The Good Dudes”, a team of Jayson Hopper, Dallin Pepper, and James Sprague recorded their best finish of the competition, placing third with a time of 15:40.19.
