Mal O’Brien, Saxon Panchik Top the 2022 CrossFit Open Leaderboard

March 15, 2022 by Phil Blechman

After the three-week-long 2022 CrossFit Open, the creme has risen to the top of the leaderboard. 2021 CrossFit Rookie of the Year Mal O’Brien, who finished seventh overall at the 2021 CrossFit Games, is atop the 2022 CrossFit Open leaderboard with only five points — lower point totals rank higher. She won Workout 22.1 and earned back-to-back runner-up finishes in Workout 22.2 and Workout 22.3 to reigning five-time Fittest Woman on Earth® Tia-Clair Toomey. Toomey scored wins in the latter two workouts and a fifth-place finish in 22.1 to finish second overall with seven points.

On the men’s side, Saxon Panchik continues his family’s legacy at the elite level of the sport with a first-place finish in the 2022 Open via 25 points — ranking third, 13th, and ninth across the three Open workouts, respectively. Matt Poulin stirred a strong runner-up finish just three points behind Panchik. The reigning Fittest Man on Earth® Justin Medeiros rounds out the podium with 31 points. Here are the 2022 CrossFit Open results below:
