The 2017 Reebok CrossFit Games are in full swing, and beyond some serious functional fitness, that can only mean one thing: Ukrainian weightlifter and 2012 Olympic Champion Aleksey Torkhtiy is doing some seriously heavy power jerks. Last year, Torokhtiy hit a 255kg power jerk at the Rogue Fitness booth in Carson, California, which is the heaviest power jerk ever filmed to date. (Watch Toroktiy’s 255kg power jerk here.)
A couple weeks ago, Torokhtiy made it clear he wanted even more weight in Madison. And while he gave 260kg a valiant attempt on Saturday morning, it wasn’t quite in the cards this weekend. After five misses at the weight — including the incredibly close one embedded below — Toroktiy called it a day.

Today I 've made 5 attempts at 260kg. Unfortunately, all five were not successful. I feel I'm ready, but need to work on my breath, it'll let me decrease the swinging of the barbell till the moment of dip and push…There will be a revanche… ———————— #PowerJerk #crossfitgames #crossfit #weightlifting #weightlifter #warmbodycoldmind #SplitJerk #torokhtiy #torokhtiy_gang #roguefitness
No knee sleeves, no wrist wraps, no belt — just Aleksey (and his shoes) versus the weight.
We’re looking forward to seeing him attempt this one again in the near future. Or maybe he’ll just jump straight to 265kg next?
