Val Voboril is one of the most underrated CrossFit athletes out there. The 37 year old training out of Southern California has three top-5 CrossFit Games finishes, including a third place finish in 2013. Voboril’s Games performances from 2012-2014 remain one of the more impressive stretches for any CrossFit athlete, though she failed to qualify in 2015 out of a stacked California Super Regional.
Coming out of the 2016 Open, Voboril was ranked 18th in SoCal, good for yet another invite to Regionals and a shot at making her fourth Games appearance. But for reasons she hasn’t yet disclosed, the mom, teacher, and athlete has declined her spot for the May competition:
We really hope this isn’t the last we see of Val Voboril as a pro fitness competitor, though with only a few years until her Masters eligibility kicks in, her next trip to Carson could very well be in a different division.
Though with a teaching career and family in addition to her athletic pursuits, we’re pretty sure Voboril will still find ways to keep busy this year. They just won’t be broadcast on ESPN.
