The 2023 World’s Strongest Nation (WSN) contest will take place on Oct. 18, 2023, at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, England. Two teams will clash again: the USA versus the UK. The two strongmen leading each team are returning captains from the 2022 edition — 2019 World’s Strongest Man (WSM) champion Martins Licis leads team USA, and 2017 WSM champion Eddie Hall leads team UK.
The single-day contest will feature seven events at the time of this article’s publication: Team Power Stairs, Tug-of-War, Wrecking Ball Hold, Head-to-Head Circus Dumbbell, Head-to-Head Axle Deadlift, Team Farmer’s Carry, and Team Sandbag Steeplechase. Tickets to watch the event live can be purchased at giants-live.com. A live stream of the competition will be available on officialstrongman.com

Members of team UK are the returning champions, having defeated Team USA in 2022. While several athletes are returning to their teams on both rosters, some new athletes, like Erin Murray, join the fray, and additional adaptations will need to be made, particularly on Team USA.
At the 2023 Rogue Strongman Invitational won by 2023 WSM champion Mitchell Hooper, two-time Shaw Classic champion Trey Mitchell suffered a right Achilles tendon tear in the “Iron Bull” event. While he has mentioned on social media that he has connected with an orthopedic surgeon regarding the injury, there is no chance that he will return to competition in the near future. That means that team USA will either compete an athlete down or a replacement for Mitchell is still to come before the contest occurs on Nov. 18, 2023.
