Competition prep can be taxing, both physically and mentally. It’s no walk in the park to prep for elite powerlifting contests with long days in the gym, dieting to make weight, and expectations looming to score big performances. French powerlifter Samantha Eugenie seems to have found the sweet spot, though, as she took to her Instagram page on May 5, 2022, to share a video wherein she deadlifted 210 kilograms (463 pounds) raw.
Eugenie’s raw deadlift in training matched the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) Junior raw deadlift world record in the 63-kilogram class, currently held by Chiara Bernardi of Italy. While wearing a lifting belt with a mixed grip, Eugenie performed the lift in a sumo stance. The speed of the barbell was smooth from the floor to the lockout, and it seemed as though she had plenty left in the tank afterward as she rocked her head in approval. Check it out below:

Eugenie confirmed to BarBend that her bodyweight at the time of the lift was 64 kilograms. While that is one kilogram over her competition bodyweight, the lift remains impressive given the ease it appeared to have for a lift that was 3.3 times her body weight. Even at 19 years old, Eugenie is no stranger to world record lifts. She previously hit a 210-kilogram (463-pound) raw deadlift at age 17 in February 2020. If you have not yet seen that lift, you can view it in the video below:

Eugenie is competing at the 2022 French Nationals on May 14, 2022. We’ll see if she calls for a new IPF Junior raw world record weight when she steps on the lifting platform. If her training lifts are any indication, the record book as it stands is not long for this world.
