Graciano Rubio Locks Out a 405-Pound Thruster In Prep for CrossFit Open Workout 23.2
The 2023 CrossFit Open gives athletes with various specialties a chance to excel. In the case of Graciano Rubio, that specialty is clearly, obviously, and overtly, an unbelievable amount of strength and a capacity to establish gargantuan lifts that don’t seem replicable by any other CrossFitter on the planet.
Workout 23.2 was a two-part challenge announced on Feb. 23, 2023, in Midland Park, NJ. Part A was a combination AMRAP (as many rounds as possible) of increasing burpee pull-ups and shuttle runs, and Part B comprised a max thruster established in a five-minute time cap. While preparing for this workout, Rubio published a video to his Instagram page wherein he hoisted a jaw-slacking 183.7-kilogram (405-pound) thruster. Check it out below:

Rubio wore a lifting belt and wrist wraps during the above lift. He managed to secure the weight overhead and had such command of it that he did a cheeky front kick to cap the lift, sustaining the weight momentarily on one leg.

Although the results were not yet official at the time of this article’s publication, Rubio topped the CrossFit leaderboard for Part B of 23.2 with a 170.1-kilogram (375-pound) thruster.
While that is 30 pounds lesser than he locked out in training, it was still the most significant lift across all CrossFitters participating in the Open worldwide after 15 minutes of burpee pull-ups and shuttle runs blowing up heart rates and engines everywhere. Here are the top-scoring athletes from Workout 23.2 Part B:
