Watch Tia-Clair Toomey Practice Snatching for the First Time Post-Pregnancy
The 2023 CrossFit Games are fast approaching, with the world’s top-ranking athletes competing from Aug. 1-6, 2023, in Madison, WI. Though the six-time Fittest Woman on Earth® Tia-Clair Toomey won’t be on the competition floor this year due to taking the majority of the season off to have her first child, she is not staying away from the gym.
In fact, Toomey has slowly ramped up her training routine post-pregnancy and has returned to form on foundational movements. On July 12, 2023, Toomey published a video on her YouTube channel wherein she displayed her first snatch training session since giving birth. Check it out below:

After the barbell work was complete, Toomey’s workout continued with pull-ups, toes-to-bar, rope climbs, ring dips, and more handstand walks. She closed with cardio intervals on the Assault Bike — four 90-second rounds with a target of 148 total calories burned.
Toomey’s current goals in the gym are getting re-acclimated to push her body past its current limits and adjusting to lactic acid build-up. Given where Toomey is at fitness-wise so soon after her pregnancy, her potential return to the Games in 2024 promises a battle to reclaim the throne she vacated in 2023.
With two of the top three finishers in the Individual Women’s division from 2022 absent from the 2023 CrossFit Games, as 2022 runner-up Mal O’Brien withdrew from the season before the 2023 CrossFit Semifinals, the top of the Games podium is wide open.
