When you see athletes like Eddie Hall moving monumental amounts of weight, it can be very easy to forget just how long it took them to get there. For example, we frequently see strength athletes at the top of their game and idolize them for the weight their moving, and at times can turn that into a self loathing thought of how long it takes ourselves to progress, but at the end of the day, pros are just like us.
Eddie Hall recently shared a cool progress video that highlights some of his progress on the axle clean and press from the weights of 160k to 200kg. The video highlights four lifts from the span of 2016 to 2018, and comes in the form of four presses: 160kg (November 2016), 180kg (February 2017), 190kg (March 2017), and 200kg (April 2018).
In terms of strongman progress videos, this is definitely one of the coolest we’ve seen this year. Check out Hall’s four presses below!

Now if you’re thinking, “Wait, Hall has pressed over 200kg before, so who cares?”, you’re right he has, yet watching someone like Hall — whose name is synonymous with ridiculous static strength — progress like the rest of us over two years was really cool.
[In November 2017, we caught up with the 2017 World’s Strongest Man and talked future acting ambitions and what to expect for the rest of 2018 and on!]
So when did Hall press over 200kg? In April 2017, axle pressed 216kg at Europe’s Strongest Man. This feat edged out legendary strongman Zydrunas Savickas’ 215kg record set in 2011.
In late June, Hall stated that Hafthor Bjornsson only won the 2018 World’s Strongest Man because he wasn’t in it, which sparked a bit of conversation in the strongman world.
And while Hall hasn’t mentioned any set in stone plans to return to the World’s Strongest Man, we have to wonder: Could he make an appearance yet again in the next two years?
