Bodybuilding legend Flex Wheeler has posted a new update as well as a photo on Instagram of his legs while lying in a hospital bed. The right leg is in a cast and there is no foot. There is also a statement from Wheeler himself within the post that was published on October 24.
“I would like to thank all of my fans and bodybuilding colleagues for your prayers and support during this difficult time for me and my family. My surgery was required due to escalating circulation difficulties in my right leg that had become life threatening. I am resting comfortably now and have begun my rehabilitation. I would like to thank my superb medical team for my treatment and care.”
There had previously been speculation about what led to his current condition and statements have been made by notable people in the bodybuilding industry about Wheeler. This is the first direct comment from the four-time Arnold Classic winner himself about what happened that led to the surgery. The only reports published by BarBend in regards to Wheeler’s condition have been based on what Wheeler has shared himself.
More Bodybuilders Offer Support and Well Wishes
In the days since Wheeler’s first post about this, more bodybuilding champions and notable people in the fitness industry have chimed in with their positive comments and support.
“Send your love out and prayers up for the sultan of symmetry @officialflexwheeler as he recovers from his recent trip to the hospital. I don’t know one real bodybuilder or fan that doesn’t recognize the elite genetic gifts this man was given and worked hard to display as one of the best bodybuilders of all time on this planet. Let’s encourage him on his speedy recovery back to health and normalcy.” – Brandon Curry, 2019 Mr. Olympia
“In times like these…’faith’. Love you my dear brother @officialflexwheeler.” – C.T. Fletcher
