Icelandic CrossFit Games athletes Sara Sigmundsdottir and Annie Thorisdottir took on CrossFit Open Workout 20.2 together in Thorisdottir’s latest YouTube video. Thorisdottir also shared a few valuable nuggets of knowledge for other athletes taking on the workout this weekend.
After an excruciating 28 rounds of 20.2, Thorsidottir shared three key tips for other athletes.
- Thorisdottir shares that you have to keep your own pace, especially early on. She points out that she tried to keep pace with Sigmundsdottir when messing up double-unders which resulted in her rushing, and it ended up costing her in the long run.
- She also points out that it’s essential to be relaxed heading into the workout and to keep transitions quick and move with intention.
- The last tip Thorisdottir recommends is to begin double-unders right away and to skip starting with a single-under before getting into the double-unders. She highlights that doing this tripped her up multiple times early in the workout.
In the video, both Sigmundsdottir and Thorrisdottir make it through 28 rounds, however, their exact scores were not shared nor submitted for the leaderboard just yet. If we had to guess, they’ll both probably take on the workout at least one more time, as per Thorisdottir’s mention of knowing she could do better at the end of the video.
Last week, we covered Thorisdottir’s attempt at taking on CrossFit Open Workout 20.1, and all we can say is we hope she keeps these videos coming with other top athletes. Thorisdottir finished Open Workout 20.1 in 8:25 and took home 5th place, while Sigmundsdottir finished with 8:11 and took 3rd.
