Season 2 of NBC’s The Titan Gamesis set to premiere on Monday may 25th at 8pm EST. Hosted by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, The Titan Games pits thirty-six athletes from three U.S. regions — East, Central, and West — to compete against each other (divided by gender) in a variety of athletic disciplines for a chance to take on the final challenge of “Mount Olympus”, a shot a $100,000 prize, and the title of “Titan”.
Season 2’s roster features athletes with very familiar names to those in CrossFit community. They are:
The competition uses an elimination bracket structure — two athletes compete against each other with the victor advancing and the loser eliminated. The season is ten episodes long and each non-finale episode will feature four men and four women.
In head-to-head preliminary heats, athletes will battle it out in events such as the Atlas Smash — where competitors carry two large concrete balls 25 feet — and the Cyclone — where competitors race to topple two-story tall pillars using a 60lb wrecking ball. The winners of each heat advance to compete on the obstacle course known as “Mount Olympus”. Winners earn a ticket to the finale to compete against each other and the opportunity to earn the $100,000 prize.
Margaux Alvarez has competed in the CrossFit Games a total of seven times — six as an individual and most recently on Team Invictus X to a 7th place finish. Her best individual finish came in 2015 when she placed 9th.
Dani Speegle
Dani Speegle made her CrossFit Games debut in 2019 where she finished 26th. She has secured an invite to her second CrossFit Games after finishing in 18th position in the 2020 Open.
Kelly Stone
Kelly Stone has made two appearances at the CrossFit Games competing on team CrossFit Omonia in 2017 (13th place) and 2018 (40th place). She finished the 2020 Open in 60th place overall.
Matt Chan
At the age of 42, Matt Chan will be the oldest competitor in season 2 of The Titan Games, but it may not be a huge obstacle. Chan has made six individual appearances at the CrossFit Games and has four top ten finishes to his name. He narrowly missed being crowned the “Fittest Man on Earth” with his 2nd place finish in 2012 (the winner that year was Rich Froning).
