The 2023 Rogue Record Breakers (RRB) event at the 2023 Arnold Sports Festival was held on March 5, 2023, in Columbus, OH, and it featured some of the world’s top strongmen attempting to rewrite the record books. It was a challenging ask as many competed in the 2023 Arnold Strongman Classic (ASC) across the two days prior.
Trey Mitchell was among those athletes. He finished fourth in the 2023 ASC after holding the overall lead in that contest for most of it. However, his poor showing in the Timber Frame Carry cost him a podium position. Mitchell was not going to leave Ohio without a keepsake, however, and it came in the form of a new world record in the Thor’s Hammer hold at a time of 63 seconds.
His performance can be seen in the video below, courtesy of the Rogue Fitness YouTube channel. The Hammer weighed 65 pounds:

Mitchell was in a heat against the 2023 ASC champion Mitchell Hooper. The two battled all weekend for the top spot in that contest. Hooper’s consistency ultimately gave him the ASC title, but Mitchell got some comeuppance in the RRB.
Hooper managed approximately 58 seconds in his hold — a few shy of Mitchell’s previous world record of 60.72 seconds. Across the stage, Mitchell held on for a few blinks longer, and by the time he lowered the hammer, he eclipsed his previous record by just over two seconds.
Mitchell was not the only strength athlete to break a Thor’s Hammer record. Moments before his heat against Hooper, strongwoman Gabi Dixson went head-to-head against former Thor’s Hammer world record holder Rebecca Roberts and achieved a new world record of 49.15 seconds.
