Men’s Open Athletes to Watch
Below are three favorites to reach first callouts in the Men’s Open contest:
Hunter Labrada
Hunter Labrada made his pro debut at this contest in 2020 and won. That contest is most famous for being the first show held that year since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Labrada has had his sights set on this show for months. Many fans feel he will be the favorite to win it for a second time. He’s looking to make his fourth straight Olympia appearance and improve upon on his seventh-place finish in 2022. Labrada’s goal for his prep was to add size while keeping his waist tight to maximize his V-taper.
Jonathan DeLaRosa
Jonathan DeLaRosa made his first appearance in three years at the 2023 Chicago Pro, and he finished the show in second place. Justin Shier took the win. He added his name to this lineup the week before the contest. His last Tampa Pro appearance was in 2016, and he placed fifth.
Nathan Spear
This will be Spear’s third contest of the 2023 season. He was seventh at the New York Pro, and he finished the Vancouver Pro in the bronze position.
Spear would need Labrada to be off the mark for a shot at the win, but Spear is certainly good enough to be in the first callout and finish in the top three. He’s in his second pro season, and this is his first time competing in the Tampa Pro.
Women’s Bodybuilding Athletes to Watch
Below are three of the Women’s Bodybuilding competitors who will likely contend for the podium:
Theresa Ivancik
Theresa Ivancik was seventh in the 2022 Ms. Olympia. She previously competed in 2023 at the Toronto Pro Supershow, finishing as the runner-up. She has wide shoulders and great arms, which may be her strength.
Ivancik had never competed in the Tampa Pro in her five previous pro seasons. Her goal for her first is to win and qualify for the Ms. Olympia contest.
Michaela Aycock
Michaela Aycock has a second-place finish in 2023 from the Lenda Murray Pro. She finished the 2022 Ms. Olympia in sixth place and aims to secure a 2023 qualification. She was in the Tampa Pro in 2019 and finished fourth. Her best finish in this show was third in 2017.
Nicki Chartrand
Nicki Chartrand of Canada will make her 2023 season debut. Along with the Olympia qualification, it would be her second pro win should she claim gold.
Chartrand was victorious at the 2018 Hawaii Pro. She was last on the Olympia stage in 2020, finishing eighth. This will be her first contest since the 2021 Rising Phoenix World Championship, where she finished in eighth place.
