The 2022 HYROX Chicago race took place at Schaumburg Renaissance Convention Center in Chicago, IL, on Nov. 5-6, 2022. Per HYROX’s press release, “HYROX Chicago is a qualification opportunity for the North American Championship on [Feb. 11, 2023], and saw a strong field of athletes enter, with over 1,400 participants racing over the course of the day — a 100 percent increase in participants from the same race last year.”
In only her second HYROX contest, Megan Jacoby of the USA broke the female Pro World Record by crossing the finish line in 1:01:56 — over six minutes faster than runner-up Vivan Tafuto, also of the USA. In the male athlete’s division, Dylan Scott was the lone competitor in the field to finish the race in less than an hour, logging a time of 58:13.

HYROX Elite Season Structure
The HYROX elite season structure for 2022-23 consists of three Elite racing opportunities:
- European Championships — Maastricht | Jan. 21, 2023
- North American Championships — Chicago | Feb. 11, 2023
- World Championships — Manchester | May 26, 2023
Per HYROX’s press release, “entry into Elite races must be earned. Athletes qualify by running one of the 15 fastest times in the respective HYROX Pro Division in a regular season race to receive an invite to the respective Elite race.
The European and North American Championships will crown the respective overall European and North American champions for this season, as well as offer early qualification opportunities for the World Championship race. The top three finishers at both the European and North American Championships earn spots in the World Championship Elite 15 Race.
The World Championship Elite 15 will constitute the six qualifiers from the European and North American Championships and the nine fastest qualifying regular season times.”
