Athletes to Watch
Below are three athletes who are the favorites entering the contest to score gold and appear at the 2023 Olympia.
JunHo Lee
There aren’t many athletes on this roster with Olympia experience. JunHo Lee was a part of the 2022 Men’s Physique Olympia lineup, finishing out of the top 15. He is the defending champion of this show. If he retains the title successfully, he’ll return to the Olympia stage in 2023 for his third consecutive Olympia appearance.
Bong Seok Choi
This is Bong Sepk Choi’s lone appearance of the 2023 season unless he wins this contest to qualify for the 2023 Olympia. His last pro-show appearance was at the 2022 Japan Pro, where he ranked seventh overall. He has also been on the Olympia stage in his career. He placed outside of the top 15 in 2021 and 2020. He will be one of the larger men in the lineup, which could be an advantage for him.
Sungwoo Cho
Sungwoo Cho turned pro at the 2022 National Physique Committee (NPC) Universe contest. He is in his rookie season with the IFBB Pro League thanks to his shape and symmetry earning him his pro card. However, he will need to be bigger to win a pro show. Insufficient size will cost him points even if he is the best-conditioned athlete on stage.
There is a cloud of mystery around Sungwoo Cho since he hasn’t been onstage in a year and that time away is suggestive of significant time to pack on muscle. He could shock the audience and judges with a suped-up physique and score an Olympia qualification in his pro debut.
