The 2023 Legion Sports Fest Pro was held in Reno, NV, on the weekend of Oct. 7-8, 2023, and it featured eight IFBB Pro League contests, including a Men’s Open contest. The winner of that show was Charles Griffen.

Still, the story coming out of the show was in the Men’s Physique division, where Kyron Holden scored a big win over reigning Men’s Physique Olympia champion and two-time Arnold Classic Men’s Physique winner Erin Banks.

Men’s Open Winner — Charles Griffen

Charles Griffen put all of his eggs in this basket, and the move paid off for him. He secured the final qualifying spot for the 2023 Mr. Olympia contest in Orlando, FL, on Nov. 2-5 by receiving unanimous first-place votes on the scorecards. The surprise of this show could be John Jewett, who made his Men’s Open debut after qualifying for the Olympia 212 contest earlier this season.

Jewett finished as the runner-up and hinted on social media that he might compete in the Men’s Open again in the future. Justin Rodriguez rounded out the top three. Since only show winners qualify for the Olympia this season, Rodriguez will have to shift his focus to 2024.

Classic Physique Winner — Terrence Ruffin

The Classic Physique winner was Terrence Ruffin, who secured the second pro win of this season, having also won the Dubai Pro. Since Ruffin was already qualified for the Olympia, no qualification was issued at this contest. Logan Franklin settled for silver, and the third-place position was claimed by Daryn Shirbayev, who will continue to battle for podiums in 2024.

Men’s Physique Winner — Kyron Holden

Holden pulled off the biggest upset of the 2023 season, scoring gold in this contest. It’s rare for a reigning Olympia champion to face defeat outside of the Olympia itself, but Holden pulled off a one-point upset over Banks, who placed second.

This was Holden’s second pro win of the season, garnering momentum as a new top contender at the 2023 Olympia. Andre Ferguson placed third, but had already qualified for the Olympia, thanks to his win at the 2023 Miami Muscle Beach Pro.

Women’s Physique Winner — Julia Monroe

Julia Monroe was competing in her second pro contest and scored her first pro win by a single point to advance to the 2023 Women’s Physique Olympia. It will be her Olympia debut if she competes. Susan Graham and Rachel Reid placed second and third, respectively.

Fitness Winner — Taylor Learmont

Fitness division shows are scored in two rounds. The opening round is for competitors’ physiques, and the final round scores their routines, counting as two-thirds of their overall scores. Taylor Learmont won this show for her strong performance in the routine round. She placed sixth on physique alone but dominated the routine round.

Kristin Pope tied Learmont on the final scores, but the routine round served as a tiebreaker, which Learmont won. Kayla Rossi settled for bronze.

Figure Winner — Jessica Reyes Padilla

Jessica Reyes Padilla is marching to the Figure Olympia with a lot of momentum. The 2023 Masters Olympia winner took her third pro victory of the season in dominating fashion. The battle was for second place and was claimed by Christine Stearns. Third place went to Sophie Jenkins of the United Kingdom.

The rematch between Padilla and defending Olympia champion Cydney Gillon in Orlando will be great to watch.

Bikini Winner — Aimee Delgado

This is Aimee Delgado’s fifth pro victory of the season in as many shows. She’s had a perfect season thus far and was the clear winner in this lineup. Lacy Rutland ranked second, and the third place went to Aisha Kaipova. Delgado can shift her focus to the 2023 Bikini Olympia, where she is likely a candidate for first callouts.

Wellness Winner — Victoria Reyes Villa

The second upset of the weekend may have been in the Wellness division. Victoria Reyes Villa made her professional debut and took the win over runner-up Jennifer Zollars. Not only did this qualify Villa for the Olympia, but Zollars is out of the Olympia as a result.
