Athletes to Watch
Below are three athletes likely to contend in first callouts:
Junior Javorski
Junior Javorski knows how it feels to be on the Olympia stage. He was part of the 2022 Classic Physique Olympia lineup in Las Vegas, NV, but finished outside the top 15. This will be his third pro show of the 2023 season. He ranked second overall in the 2023 New York Pro and seventh in the 2023 Empro Pro. He is arguably the favorite to win this contest based on those previous results.
Filipe Marins
Filipe Marins has competed once in 2023 —third overall in the 2023 Sur Cup Pro contest. He is a second-year pro out of the host country and seeks to qualify for his first Olympia. He needs to enter the Recife Pro a bit leaner than he was in his last showing. He has the potential to take the win and punch his ticket to Orlando if he accomplishes that.
Lucas Moraes
This is Lucas Moraes’ IFBB Pro League debut. He has the potential to disrupt the overall standings in a meaningful way. He turned pro via his win at the 2023 NPC Worldwide Arnold Classic Amateur Brazil, thanks to the dense musculature in his upper back. He could benefit from coming in tighter on the pro stage, but a win in his debut would not be a surprise.
Other Notes
The other two contests with Olympia qualifications in the balance are at the 2023 Legion Sports Fest in Reno, NV, and the Balkan Grand Prix in Sofia, Bulgaria. Once all three contests are concluded, the 2023 Classic Physique Olympia roster will be finalized. The cutoff for qualifying for the 2023 Olympia is Oct. 9, 2023.
