Classic Physique Athletes to Watch
Below are athletes likely to score first callouts in Classic Physique:
Mike Sommerfeld
Germany’s Mike Sommerfeld is coming off an eighth-place finish at the 2023 Classic Physique Olympia, won by five-time reigning champion Chris Bumstead. This is Sommerfeld’s first time competing in South America. He will aim for his first pro win of the 2024 qualifying season, which would lock in his fourth consecutive Olympia qualification if successful.
Eric Wildberger Lisboa
Eric Wildberger Lisboa is coming off a third-place finish in the 2023 Texas State Pro, won by Urs Kalecinski. Prior to that, Wilderberger Lisboa stood alongside Sommerfeld on the 2023 Olympia stage, but Wilderberger Lisboa finished outside the top 15. This show could help him qualify for 2024 early so he can train through a longer off-season to prepare for the 2024 Olympia. His last pro win was at the 2023 Optimum Classic Pro.
Julian Castano
Julian Castano will represent the host country. He’s been a pro since 2019 and has one pro win to his name: the 2022 Argentina Sur Cup Pro show. Even though Castano qualified for the Olympia, he didn’t compete. Castano competed three times during the 2023 season. His best finish was second at the 2023 Sur Cup Pro.
