The 2023 Sheru Classic Mexico Grand Battle Pro show was held on Saturday, Sept. 16, in Mexico City, Mexico. It featured Men’s Physique and Bikini contests, with Edvin Palmeira and Reyna Perez Mecalco coming out on top in their respective divisions.
A win earned each competitor a spot to compete at the 2023 Olympia Weekend, but since Palmeira already qualified after winning a previous show, no new entry was awarded for Men’s Physique.

Men’s Physique Winner — Edvan Palmeira
Palmeria won the 2023 Sasquatch Pro one week before this contest, meaning the rest of the field will have to search elsewhere for an Olympia qualification. And since the qualification cutoff date is Oct 9., they need to act fast. Palmeira can either keep competing or set his sights on the Olympia, where he hopes to improve on his fifth-place finish from 2022.

Second Place — Joshua Guidry
After earning fourth at the Texas Pro and third at the Sasquatch Pro, this show marked Guidry’s highest placing of the season. That said, the third-year pro is still searching for his first win, which would set him up for his Olympia debut. He has three weeks left to get it done for the 2023 season.
Third Place — Alex Toplyn
Toplyn has finished no lower than eighth and as high as second twice at five shows in 2023, but he has yet to score his first win. He was 14th in the 2022 Men’s Physique Olympia, and his absence from the lineup in Orlando would be a big opportunity for another competitor. There’s no word on when Toplyn will step on stage again, but he’s expected to compete at least once more to try to qualify for the Olympia.
Bikini Winner — Reyna Perez Mecalco
Mecalco was the defending champion of this show, and she successfully kept her crown again in this single-round scored contest. She didn’t compete in the 2022 Bikini Olympia in spite of being qualified. And if she competes in the 2023 edition, it will be her Olympia debut.

Second Place — Jessica Machado
Machado was a favorite in this show, but she was unable to get the win. This was her fourth contest of the season, and it was her highest finish out of the year. The second-year pro has yet to place first in a contest, but she showed that she’s got the potential to be a real threat whenever she’s on stage. Don’t be surprised if she enters and wins a show before the Olympia.
Third Place — Roxana Marquez
Roxana Marquez hoped to qualify for the Olympia for the second straight year, but she settled for the bronze medal here. Prior to this, she had placed 16th in the 2023 Sasquatch Pro. The 2021 San Antonio Pro winner could potentially try to enter the 2023 edition of that contest on Sept. 23 to earn a second win and trip to the Olympia.
