2023 Strongman Champions League Finland Results — USA’s Nathan Goltry Dominant

Goltry scored 62 points across six events in Vaasa, Finland.

The 2023 Strongman Champions League (SCL) Finland contest occurred on May 6, 2023, in Vaasa, Finland. Twelve strongmen competed across six events in the single-day contest. Nine different countries were represented, with only the home country supporting more than one athlete — four athletes represented Finland.

Nathan Goltry of the USA scored the overall victory with a consistent performance that never saw him finish lower than fifth in any event. The five events featured in the contest were the Frame Carry, Bag Over Bar, Loading Race, Hercules Hold, Viking Press, and Deadlift. Check out the results below, according to Strength Results:

2023 Strongman Champions League Finland Results 

  1. Nathan Goltry (USA) — 62 points
  2. Andrea Invernizzi (Italy) — 54 points
  3. Aivars Šmaukstelis (Latvia) — 52 points
  4. Kane Francis (UK) — 45.5 points
  5. Kelvin de Ruiter (Netherlands) — 45 points
  6. Mika Törrö (Finland) — 44.5 points
  7. Ervin Toots (Estonia) — 30 points
  8. Evans Aryee (Belgium) — 29 points
  9. Jesse Pynnönen (Finland) — Eight points
  10. Peter Reinthaler (Austria) — Seven Points
  11. Heikki Pohjonen (Finland) — 6.5 points
  12. Jarkko Mehtälä (Finland) — Six points

This contest was an elimination-style competition. After the Bag Over Bar, athletes ranked ninth through 12th were eliminated. After the Hercules Hold, athletes in seventh and eighth were eliminated. After the Viking Press, athletes in fifth and sixth overall were eliminated. Only four athletes competed in the final event — a 350-kilogram car deadlift for reps.

Frame Carry

The Frame Carry event featured a 320-kilogram shield and challenged each strongman to traverse as much distance along a 20-meter course as possible within the 60-second time limit.

  1. Evans Aryee — 75 meters
  2. Kane Francis — 68.4 meters
  3. Nathan Goltry — 68.3 meters
  4. Andrea Invernizzi — 65 meters
  5. Aivars Šmaukstelis — 60 meters (T-fifth)
  6. Mika Törrö — 60 meters (T-fifth)
  7. Ervin Toots — 45.8 meters
  8. Jarkko Mehtälä — 45 meters
  9. Jesse Pynnönen — 38.2 meters
  10. Kelvin de Ruiter — 35.8 meters
  11. Peter Reinthaler — 8.9 meters
  12. Heikki Pohjonen — 6.7 meters

Bag Over Bar

The Bag Over Bar featured five bags weighing 20, 24, 27, 30, and 34 kilograms. Athletes had a max of 60 seconds to throw as many of the bags over a 4.3-meter bar in the fastest possible time.

  1. Aivars Šmaukstelis — five in 22.4 seconds
  2. Nathan Goltry — five in 23.02 seconds
  3. Ervin Toots — five in 38.02 seconds
  4. Mika Törrö — four in 16.93 seconds
  5. Kelvin de Ruiter — three in 13.33 seconds
  6. Kane Francis — three in 20.17 seconds
  7. Andrea Invernizzi — three in 20.46 seconds
  8. Evans Aryee — three in 30.52 seconds
  9. Jesse Pynnönen — three in 31.74 seconds
  10. Peter Reinthaler — three in 44.12 seconds
  11. Heikki Pohjonen — two in 21.34 seconds
  12. Jarkko Mehtälä — one in 15.96 seconds

Loading Race

The Loading Race featured three implements weighing 100, 120, and 140 kilograms. Athletes had 60 seconds to load all three implements to a 10-meter platform in the fastest time possible.

  1. Aivars Šmaukstelis — three in 49.9 seconds
  2. Mika Törrö —  two in 37.11 seconds
  3. Kane Francis — two in 51.77 seconds
  4. Nathan Goltry — two in 54.7 seconds
  5. Kelvin de Ruiter — two in 57.67 seconds
  6. Evans Aryee — one in 7.27 seconds
  7. Ervin Toots — one in 8.87 seconds
  8. Andrea Invernizzi — one in 11.87 seconds
  9. Jesse Pynnönen — eliminated
  10. Peter Reinthaler — eliminated
  11. Heikki Pohjonen — eliminated
  12. Jarkko Mehtälä — eliminated

Hercules Hold

Each remaining strongman was tasked with sustaining a 280-kilogram hold for as long as possible.

  2. Kelvin de Ruiter — 54.25 seconds
  3. Mika Törrö — 52.91 seconds
  4. Aivars Šmaukstelis — 49.41 seconds
  5. Nathan Goltry — 48 seconds

  8. Evans Aryee — 35.69 seconds
  9. Jesse Pynnönen — eliminated
  10. Peter Reinthaler — eliminated

Viking Press

The Viking Press was a 60-second event with a 165-kilogram lift. Athletes attempted to lock out as many reps as they could.

  4. Kane Francis — six reps (T-third)
