Your strongman and strongwoman champions are Mitchell Hooper of Canada and Angelica Jardine of the United States. This is Hooper’s second straight Arnold Classic win. He is now a two-time ASC winner and the current reigning World’s Strongest Man. This is Jardine’s first Arnold Strongwoman Classic win. She is also a 2023 America’s Strongest Woman winner.
The 2024 Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, OH, features its competitive strongman and strongwoman competition on March 1-2, 2024. The Arnold Strongman Classic (ASC) this year showcases some of the sport’s all-time greats, including the long-anticipated return of the 2018 World’s Strongest Man (WSM) and three-time ASC champion Hafthór Björnsson.
The Icelandic strength legend flew to Columbus to test his static strength against 2019 WSM champion Martins Licis, 2020 WSM Oleksii Novikov, two-time WSM Tom Stoltman, and reigning defending WSM and ASC champion Mitchell Hooper, among others.
The Arnold Strongwoman Classic (ASWC) featured defending champion Victoria Long, who aimed to repeat her dominance established in 2023 but had to withdraw due to injury mid-competition. Two-time World’s Strongest Woman (WSW) Rebecca Roberts, 2018 WSW Andrea Thompson, log lift world record holder Inez Carrasquillo, and the rest of the elite roster competed for the next throne.

2024 Strongwoman Classic Event Results
Below are the results for each Individual event for the strongwomen.
Max Elephant Bar Deadlift
The strongwomen competed first on March 1, 2024. The Max Deadlift event featured athletes establishing their heaviest deadlift in a weightlifting event-style meet. This meant athletes with the lighter weight always lifted before an athlete with a heavier attempt, regardless of which attempt it was.
Defending champion Victoria Long suffered a scary moment when she collapsed to the floor with a hamstring injury. She still managed to secure third-place points off her successful 288-kilogram pull.
Notably, Lucy Underdown set an Elephant Bar world record of 666 pounds in her second attempt!
- Lucy Underdown — 302 kilograms
- Andrea Thompson — 291 kilograms
- Victoria Long — 288 kilograms
- Olga Liashchuk — 275 kilograms (T-fourth)
- Melissa Peacock — 275 kilograms (T-fourth)

2024 Arnold Strongman Classic Event Results
Below are the results for each Individual event for the strongmen.
Max Elephant Bar Deadlift
Like the women’s contest, athletes calling for lighter weight lifted before those who called for heavier weight, regardless of attempt number. Entering the contest, Björnsson held the Elephant Bar deadlift world record at 474 kilograms.
Boudreault opened the contest with a 352-kilogram attempt and immediately appeared to suffer a left lat injury before the Elephant bar left the floor. Singleton’s first attempt of 386 kilograms slipped out of his hand as his left-hand lifting strap unraveled off the bar. He nailed the immediate follow-up attempt.
Björnsson’s first attempt in his return to the competitive strongman stage was a blisteringly easy 420 kilograms. Thompson was the last athlete to make a first attempt successfully of 436 kilograms and called it there.
Björnsson came out last for an opening event win with a successful attempt of 456 kilograms. It was his 13th career ASC event win.
- Hafthór Björnsson — 456 kilograms
- Bobby Thompson — 436 kilograms
- Mitchell Hooper — 431 kilograms
- Evan Singleton — 427 kilograms
- Tom Stoltman — 415 kilograms
- Oleksii Novikov — 409 kilograms
- Thomas Evans — 397 kilograms
- Martins Licis — 391 kilograms
- Mateusz Kieliszkowski — 388 kilograms
- Oskar Ziółkowski — 370 kilograms
- Maxime Boudreault — no lift
Timber Carry
The Timber Carry was a showcase for Hooper, who narrowly missed a world record time by one-tenth of a second. Similarly, Björnsson put any doubters of his strongman return to shame as he blitzed the Timber Carry in a time of 8.4 seconds for a second-place finish to end Day One in first overall.
Licis and Kieliszkowski moved up the leaderboard meaningfully after subpar Elephant Bar Deadlift performances. Unfortunately for Novikov and Evans, both appeared to suffer biceps injuries during their Timber Carry attempts, though neither immediately withdrew from the competition.
- Mitchell Hooper — 7.1 seconds
- Hafthór Björnsson — 8.4 seconds
- Mateusz Kieliszkowski — 8.69 seconds
- Martins Licis — 14.81 seconds
- Evan Singleton — 8.89 meters
- Tom Stoltman — 8.13 meters
- Oleksii Novikov — 7.49 meters
- Oskar Ziółkowski — 4.9 meters
- Bobby Thompson — 4.01 meters
- Thomas Evans — 3.99 meters
- Maxime Boudreault — withdrew
Webster Stones
At the end of Day One of strongman competition, defending champion Hooper said that Day Two would be one of his strongest performances yet. He lived up to that statement in the Webster Stones, scoring first-place points.
Björnsson continued to impress in his competitive strongman return, scoring second-place points to be even on the overall leaderboard with Hooper heading into the penultimate event.

- Evan Singleton — 10.62 meters
