The 2024 CrossFit Age Group Semifinals Results
The Age Group Semifinals leaderboards have been finalized and the Masters and Teen Games rosters are set.
Each division takes up to 40 athletes to the championship event.
Remind me: For the first time, the 2024 Masters CrossFit Games will be run by Legends and will take place at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham, AL.
The 2024 Teenage CrossFit Games, run by the Pit Teen Throwdown, will take place in Kalamazoo and Three Rivers, MI.
- Both events will be held on Labor Day weekend, August 29-September, 2024.
Multiple athletes competed in the live Individual Semifinals in their respective regions, but only Andreia Pinheiro of Brazil qualified for both the Individual and Masters CrossFit Games.

- Pinheiro won the 40-44 Age Group online Semifinal and placed third at the 2024 Copa Sur, the South America Semifinal.
- The 41-year-old was second at last year’s CrossFit Games to legend Sam Briggs.
Some Returning Champions
In the 16-17 division, expect Ireland’s Lucy McGonigle to defend her title. She also competed as an individual, placing 19th among the elites at the Europe Semifinal.
Rudy Berger has won the 40-44 division for the last two years.
- He will compete against Julian Serna, a newcomer to the age group, among other formidable contenders. Serna qualified for the Games on a Colombian team in 2018.
Jason Grubb is looking for his unprecedented fifth straight championship. He finished second in the 2024 45-49 Age Group Semifinal to Caine Hayes from Australia.
- Hayes is new to the 45-49 division this year, coming off a fifth-place finish in the 40-44 division in 2023, and will be a top challenger.
David Hippensteel has nine CrossFit Games appearances under his belt across three divisions.
- He has been crowned champion three times, with 2018 being the most recent. He finished second in the 65+ category last year and is always a force to be reckoned with.
Cheryl Brost is back to defend her title in the 50-54 division, which would match her back-to-back titles in the 45-49 division in 2016 and 2017.
Julie Holt is vying for her third straight championship in the 65+ division.
Big Names to Watch
In addition to past champions, the leaderboards feature many familiar names, such as former Individual Games athletes Alethea Boon and Val Voboril.
- Boon had one of the best moments of the 2024 Individual Semifinals, PR’ing her time in the snatch ladder from 2016 in front of a hyped Torian Pro crowd in Australia.

Former team athlete Nuno Costa, as well as past age group competitors like Dustin McWilliams and Pamela Gagnon, will be among those competing for the top of their division’s podium on Labor Day weekend.
