Men’s Open Athletes to Watch
2021, 2022, and 2023 contest winner Andrea Presti is absent from this lineup, meaning a new champion is guaranteed. Here are the favorites to watch:
William Bonac
William “The Conqueror” Bonac is coming off a triumphant return to the stage at the 2024 Empro Classic Pro, where he placed first and qualified for the 2024 Mr. Olympia. Now qualified, Bonac could also prevent another athlete from qualifying by winning this title.
Only pro show winners qualify for the Olympia at this stage of the season, and no qualification is awarded if the winner has previously earned his or her spot. This will be Bonac’s first time competing in this contest.
Nathan De Asha
Nathan De Asha needs to win this show because he has yet to qualify for the Olympia. His 2024 season debut came at the 2024 Flex Weekend Pro, where he placed second to winner Behrooz Tabani. De Asha has 11 career wins, with his last coming at the 2023 Sheru Classic France show.
De Asha was qualified for the 2023 Olympia but reported being denied entry into the United States, which kept him from competing. He and Bonac last shared a stage at the 2018 Mr. Olympia. Bonac placed fourth, and De Asha placed eighth. The late Shawn Rhoden won that title.
Michal Krizanek
Due to an injury, Michal Krizanek reportedly withdrew from the rest of the 2024 Olympia season. However, he is listed on the roster for this show. If he does happen to compete, he is certain to be in a first callout against Bonac and De Asha.
In his only appearance of the season, Krizanek finished third at the 2024 Empro Classic Pro. He is also not yet qualified for the 2024 Olympia.
How to Watch
NPC Worldwide amateur contests are also scheduled for this show on Saturday, July 6, 2024. Fans who won’t be in attendance can still watch the show live via the promoter’s livestream.
The amateur and pro contests can be purchased from the event website (https://streaming-ifbbpro.com/producto/mr-big-evolution-pro-olympia-amateur-portugal-2024/) for 19 Euros ($21.48 USD).
