Athletes to Watch
There won’t be many callouts for this competition, but these three contenders go in as early favorites.
Joven Sagabain
The 2023 champion of this contest is back to defend his title. Joven Sagabain is the only representative of the host country in the line-up. He is a three-time Olympia competitor, with his most recent appearance in 2024, when he placed 16th. He won the 2023 Tokyo Pro.
Ash Abdollahi
Ash Abdollahi, representing Australia, is expected to make his pro debut at this competition. He earned his pro status at the 2023 NPC Worldwide Australian National Championships, where he won the overall national championship for his division.
A small show like this could be a smooth way to adjust to the pro level and get noticed by the judges. Fans in his home country see him as a future star of the division.
Marquis Young
Marquis Young is the only representative from the United States. On Sept. 28, 2024, he finished eighth at the 2024 Legion Sports Fest Pro in Reno, NV. Before that, he ranked ninth at the 2024 Los Angeles Grand Prix Pro.
This is Young’s third qualifying season in the pro ranks. He seeks his first pro win and Olympia qualification.
