The 2025 Torian Pro takes place May 30 to June 1 at the Pat Rafter Arena in Brisbane, Australia, and it is one of the 10 2025 CrossFit Games In-Person Qualifying Events (IPQEs).
Although it’s usually one of the most anticipated events on the CrossFit calendar every year, the 2025 edition has even more history behind it, as the Torian Pro is celebrating its 10th anniversary.
This year, two men and two women at the Torian Pro will earn tickets to the 2025 CrossFit Games in Albany, NY, this August and join an almost full roster of athletes. In addition to our own coverage, here’s how fans can stay up to date with the action.
As we prepare for three action-packed days in France, here are five things to know:
How the Athletes Qualified
The top 30 men and women from the Torian Pro Online Qualifier received invitations to compete in the Pro Individual division.
The event utilized the athletes’ CrossFit Open scores for the first three weeks and added a fourth workout in the final week, programmed by the Torian Pro team.
- The event also allowed for “special invites,” such as Gui Malheiros. Torian Pro released the final rosters, which included 40 men and 40 women.
Additionally, they extended invitations to all past Torian Pro champions to the event.
Will Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr Retire Afterward?
Without a doubt, one of the most important things to know heading into the Torian Pro is that Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr will be competing for what might be her last time as an elite individual athlete.
She has hinted at retirement but hasn’t made an official announcement.
- The seven-time Fittest Woman on Earth posted back in April that she would say goodbye at the Torian Pro. But it’s never over until it’s really over, right?
Hannah Black Goes For Third IPQE
The season has been a long journey for those still seeking an invitation to the 2025 Games. Hannah Black is a prime example, as she will compete in her third In-Person Qualifying Event following a costly final event at The Fittest Experience Invitational.
- Black was aiming for second place at TFX, which would have secured a qualifying spot for the Games. However, several missed lifts on the final barbell of the last event cost her that ticket. Earlier in the season, Black placed 13th at the Mayhem Classic.
She is back to compete again in what has turned into a grueling Semifinals season.
“Grisabel” Programmed
A twist on the iconic “Girls” workout, “Heavy Isabel” has been included in several IPQEs. Some athletes have tackled it multiple times in competition and the Individual In-Affiliate Semifinal.
Torian Pro, however, has decided to take it a step further by combining “Isabel” and “Grace.”
- Torian Pro Event 4 is “Grisabel,” a hybrid of “Isabel” and “Grace” that includes 150 double unders in the middle. But hey, at least it isn’t a heavy barbell.
Athletes will have eight minutes to complete 30 snatches, 150 double unders, and 30 clean and jerks, with barbell weights of 135 pounds (61 kg) and 95 pounds (43 kg) for men and women, respectively.
A Three-Time Torian Pro King?
The men’s field is stacked this year with past winners like Jay Crouch and Ricky Garard, both of whom have previously won the competition twice. If either of them wins, it will mark the first time someone on the men’s side has taken the crown three times.
- It’s important to note that Crouch and Garard have already secured their spots at the Games through the In-Affiliate Semifinals. Therefore, even if they finish in first and second place, the third and fourth finishers will receive a Games ticket, provided they meet the qualifying requirements for the Games.
