2021 World’s Strongest Woman Recap
The 2021 WSW contest consisted of six events over three days. In order, they were the log lift, the car walk, a deadlift ladder, a carry & drag medley, the bag over bar, and the Atlas Stones.
Log Lift
The opening event of the contest featured the log lifts for reps. Athletes had 60 seconds to score as many reps with a 107-kilogram (235.9-pound) log as possible.
- Inez Carrasquillo — 12 reps
- Annabelle Chapman — Nine reps
- Rebecca Roberts — Five reps (T-fourth)
- Olga Liashchuk — Five reps (T-fourth)
Only one strongwoman was able to eclipse the 10-rep milestone. Carrasquillo hoisted the log overhead 12 times to score the event win. Chapman, known for her overhead strength, came in second with nine reps.
The rest of the field dropped off from there. Roberts and Liashchuk scored five reps to tie for fourth, Maggard and Fluegel hit three reps, Dixson scored two reps, and Harjapää locked it out once. Rader and Muchindu were unable to get on the board.
Car Walk
The car walk featured a 318-kilogram (701.1-pound) car frame. Athletes attempted to carry the frame 15 meters in the fastest time possible with a time cap of 60 seconds.
- Gabi Dixon — 11.17 seconds
- Annabelle Chapman — 12.67 seconds
- Rebecca Roberts — 15.12 seconds
Dixon bounced back from the first event in a big way, traversing the course in an event-winning time of 11.17 seconds. All the athletes who finished the course did so within 25 seconds. Only three athletes could not carry the frame across the finish line — Fluegel, Muchindu, and Harjapää.
Deadlift Ladder
The deadlift event featured five barbells loaded with 184 kilograms (405.7 pounds) up to 263 kilograms (579.8 pounds). Athletes were given one minute to pull each weight in ascending order as fast as possible.
- Gabi Dixon — Five in 51.07 seconds
- Anna Harjapää — Four in 22.39 seconds
- Rebecca Roberts — Four in 22.54 seconds
Dixon kept the momentum from the car walk and won her second consecutive event. She was the only strongwoman to lock out all five barbells successfully. Harjapää rebounded from her last-place finish in the car walk to a big silver-medal performance in the deadlift, beating out Roberts by 15 hundredths of a second.
The entire field deadlifted at least three barbells within the time limit.

Carry & Drag
With 90 seconds on the clock, athletes attempted to carry a 100-kilogram (220.5-pound) sack and then drag a 102-kilogram (224.9-pound) shield and sled 15 meters in each direction.
- Olga Liashchuk — 44.44 seconds
- Rebecca Roberts — 45.13 seconds
- Inez Carrasquillo — 47.87 seconds
Liashchuk scored her first win of the competition with a blazing time of 44.44 seconds. Roberts maintained her consistency, finishing less than a second behind Liashchuk. Carrasquillo reminded everyone that she is a force to be reckoned with in the sport, posting a time of 47.87 seconds. Three athletes did not finish the course — Harjapää, Rader, and Muchindu.
Bag Over Bar
Athletes were tasked with tossing six bags that ranged in weight from 14 to 20 kilograms over a four-meter high bar as fast as possible. There was a 60-second time cap.
- Inez Carrasquillo — Six bags in 21.18 seconds
- Annabelle Chapman — Six bags in 23.48 seconds
- Britta Maggard — Six bags in 24.36 seconds
Carrasquillo claimed her second event win of the competition in the bag toss. The top four in this event cleared all six implements very quickly, scoring times within three seconds of each other.
For reference, Roberts finished in fourth with a time of 24.98 seconds. Liashchuk finished fifth and was the last athlete to toss all six bags over the bar successfully.
Atlas Stones
The Atlas Stones event consisted of six stones ranging from 91 kilograms (200.6 kilograms) to 147 kilograms (324.1 pounds). The fastest time was awarded the victory with a 75-second time cap.
- Olga Liashchuk — Six stones in 45.29 seconds
- Rebecca Roberts — Five stones in 28.04 seconds
- Annabelle Chapman — Five stones in 33.34 seconds
Liashchuk was the long strongwoman to load all six stones. It was enough to score her second event win of the competition and lock up a silver-medal finish overall.
Roberts loaded five stones faster than the rest of the field to secure an overall competition victory. The top three in the Atlas Stones were also the top three on the podium, with Roberts on top, Liashchuk in second, and Chapman in third.
