The excitement surrounding Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr and PRVN Fitness as they enter the HYROX world is well-deserved.
- The CrossFit training brand and its leaders are making significant efforts to promote the fitness racing sport in 2025.
Toomey-Orr, her partner and the co-owner and head coach of PRVN, Shane Orr, and PRVN HYROX coach James Kelly recently shared a video on the PRVN YouTube channel discussing why and how the brand is “taking over” HYROX this year.
Orr emphasized that PRVN’s primary focus since its founding has always been on what motivates people to become the best versions of themselves, both physically and mentally, with a recent emphasis on HYROX.
- “HYROX for us seems to captivate such an array of fitness and tests and enjoyment for that matter, and that’s why we want to get ourselves heavily involved in that this year,” Orr said in the video.
He adds that he believes both sports can coexist, and it comes down to coaches “navigating that together to ensure that we provide a product that serves their goals and objectives.”
PRVN brought on HYROX elite athlete James Kelly as a coach earlier this year to develop the training program and prepare athletes for races at various fitness levels.
Elite rookie Joanna Wietrzyk has joined PRVN as an athlete and training partner to Toomey-Orr.
- “With James coming onto the PRVN HYROX team, it was just a natural evolving relationship that I was going to join,” said Wietrzyk in the video.
Kelly shares insights on how CrossFit athletes often excel when they transition into HYROX. However, what distinguishes an elite athlete is their mental game.
- “I strongly believe there are a few people in the world who can mentally get themselves to this elite level, and it’s asking yourself how bad do you want it?” said Kelly.
One last thing: Both sports are currently in season, and high-level athletes are competing in both, but it remains to be seen whether you can perform at the highest level in both.
