Nick Walker is the defending champion in the Men’s Open division. He officially announced his entry to the 2025 edition of the contest for a potential title defense on May 12, via his Instagram page in a video that can be seen below:
2025 Pittsburgh Pro
Walker just competed at the 2025 Pittsburgh Pro on May 10. He ranked as the overall runner-up behind champion Derek Lunsford. The Lunsford-versus-Walker battle was one for the history books as they tied with 15 points each after the pre-judging and final rounds.
Awesome show; awesome battle [against Lunsford].
—Nick Walker
As such a tie had not been seen before, Lunsford and Walker returned to the stage for a sudden-death callout that was a head-to-head battle. The result on the official scorecard remained a tie, though Lunsford was awarded the win.
I presented probably my best package to date; I’m happy for that. Our job was to bring our best and that’s what we did.
—Nick Walker
Lunsford was already qualified for the 2025 Olympia as a previous Mr. Olympia champion and the 2024 bronze medalist. Walker was not yet qualified for the 2025 Olympia and needed the pro show win. Walker enters the 2025 New York Pro as the favorite to win, which he must secure to earn his ticket to this year’s Mr. Olympia.
If Walker defends his New York Pro title in Teaneck, he would become the first Men’s Open bodybuilder to score three New York Pro wins. He won his first in 2021 and his second in 2024.
