7-time Mr. Olympia Arnold Schwarzenegger was always known for his intense training while he was in his bodybuilding prime but even now in his 70’s, the former Governor of California still makes working out a top priority.
Schwarzenegger has recently been traveling the world promoting his latest film “Terminator: Dark Fate” but has been sharing content on Instagram that includes him focusing on fitness, too.
He hasn’t been alone in the gym either based on what he has shared. As the above post shows, he was putting co-star Gabriel Luna through his paces while training abs. Based on how the caption to the post reads, he didn’t wait very long after his flight landed.
“Even machines need a pump to beat the jet lag on the #terminatordarkfate world tour.”
In another video clip that shows him performing seated chest presses, he repeats that advice.
He’s known for his past dominance of the weights in the gym but he also performs cardio when on the road too. In this post, he was in the middle of a bicycle ride in London, England.
While he still exercises and eats healthy on a normal basis, he has stopped training heavy after dealing with heart complications in 2018. After surgery, his doctor had recommended that he focus more on lighter weight and increased reps.
Schwarzenegger’s connection to fitness has gone back to his childhood. After starting out in bodybuilding and powerlifting, he excelled in bodybuilding. Eventually he held the title of Mr. Olympia from 1970 until he retired in 1975. The final contest was featured in the film “Pumping Iron”. He came out of retirement and won the title for the final time in 1980. Since 1989, he and co-promotor Jim Lorimer have promoted the Arnold Classic bodybuilding contest which evolved into the Arnold Sports Festival.
Earlier this year, he was a part of another film called “The Game Changers”, a documentary focusing on the vegan lifestyle.
