Grab a Partner — CrossFit HQ Announces New PairUP ThrowDOWN Competition
On May 6, 2021, CrossFit HQ announced a brand new competition called PairUP ThrowDOWN that gives partners, teammates, and rivals the opportunity to, well, pair up to throw down. According to their press release, this new format competition is “for anyone who wants to work together to test their fitness and teamwork against peers across the globe.” The competition can be performed anywhere, but the format consists of a single workout that can be performed within a one-hour window to be easily integrated into a CrossFit affiliate‘s class schedule.
The PairUP ThrowDOWN will run from May 20-24, 2021. CrossFit HQ will offer athletes and affiliates who finish towards the top of the leaderboard “sponsored prizes valued at over $100,000,” which may include tickets to the 2021 NOBULL CrossFit Games in Madison, WI on July 27 through Aug. 1. PairUP ThrowDOWN Format
Per CrossFit HQ, participants will have the option of competing in their choice of an all-male, all-female, or mixed pair. The competition will only consist of one hour-long workout to be completed any time from Thursday, May 20, until the end of Monday, May 24. The workout itself will have the following divisions:
- Rx’d
- Scaled
- Age Groups: Open / 35-44 / 45-54 / 55+
Although a judge is not required to compete, it is recommended for athletes who believe they will rank towards the top of the leaderboard. Video submissions of the workout will still be required, similar to what is done during the Open or other virtual CrossFit competition, for those seeking prizes.
