Dylan Kade Hospitalized With Life-Threatening Case of Bacterial Meningitis
Dylan Kade, a three-time CrossFit Games athlete in the teen division, has been hospitalized since June 23 with a severe and rare case of bacterial meningitis. An instagram post by his girlfriend and teen Games athlete Mia Nightingale details that he has been transferred to the C.S. Motts Hospital on the campus of the University of Michigan for specialized treatment. He was diagnosed with encephalitis, severe swelling of the brain, on Wednesday morning and was put into the hospital’s pediatric intensive care unit for monitoring.
How to help: With Kade’s mother being the sole source of income for his family, friends of the Kade family have started a GoFundMe page to help raise money for treatment and recovery. The 19-year old just completed his freshman year at Oakland University in Rochester, MI where he is studying to be a physical therapist. In 2018 he finished third at the Games in the boys 17-18 year old division. Friends and family have also asked for prayers and to share the fundraising page.
