The 2025 International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) World Classic Championships took place in Chemnitz, Germany, from June 8-15, 2025. The competition was aflutter with new IPF world records across several men’s and women’s categories.

One of the remarkable performances in Chemnitz belonged to America’s Heather Connor in the 47KG class. The deadlift specialist scored a new IPF world record deadlift en route to a world record total, securing the overall gold. She defeated defending champion Tiffany Chapon of France, who scored silver after achieving a new IPF bench press world record of 102 kilograms.

Connor’s world record deadlift can be seen in the video below, courtesy of the IPF’s Instagram page:

Connor entered the arena, pumping up the crowd on the cusp of witnessing an alteration to the record books. Connor, the first 47KG athlete to pull four times her bodyweight, set up in a sumo stance and grabbed the barbell with a mixed grip.

Once set, Connor executed her signature hair flip before initiating the pull. The bar was fast off the floor but slowed during the ascent. The eventual world champion endured the grind once the bar was past her knees and secured the lockout to receive the down command from the judge.

Connor sat on the platform against the barbell she had just battled against, overcome with emotion.

According to Open Powerlifting, Connor’s second deadlift of 205 kilograms matched her previous world record set at the 2025 AMP Classic Open Nationals in April 2025. Tacking on a staggering 7.5 kilograms to a world record is a remarkable jump. However, it was necessary to defeat Chapon by half a kilogram.
