The HYROX World Championships need a new home for the next two seasons and are inviting cities worldwide to submit their bids.
- “We are excited to, for the very first time, be inviting cities across the world to bid to host the 2026 and 2027 HYROX World Championships,” Lara Tiramani, Global Head of Elite Series & World Championship, said in a press release on Wednesday.
The details: The fitness race has experienced exponential growth over the past couple of years, attracting 650,000 athletes for the 2024/25 season, and it’s expected to reach 1 million participants for the 2025/26 season.
The World Championships, the final event of each HYROX season, were held in Nice, France, last year and will take place in Chicago, IL, in June.
- “This event is the pinnacle of every HYROX season, and we’re very happy to now be presenting the opportunity for collaborative destination partnerships,” Tiramani continued. “Our objective is to make the next two HYROX World Championship events bigger and better than ever before.”
Cities wishing to apply should note:
- A bid requires the city to offer HYROX financial and commercial support.
- “The destination will be given a platform to demonstrate its capabilities in organizing large-scale international sporting events, have its global visibility enhanced within the fitness and wellness sectors, and establish lasting relationships with HYROX,” the press release states.
HYROX anticipates that its World Championship events will each attract over 6,000 athletes from more than 80 countries, along with 10,000 spectators. Interested cities will need to contact HYROX directly to request an invitation to bid. All bids have to include a completed financial proposal and supporting documents.
- “They will be judged based on an evaluation criteria which includes venue and technical support and commercial and branding support,” according to the press release.
One last thing: The deadline for destination organizers to submit a bid is May 1, 2025.
