The global journey to the 2020 CrossFit Games made its latest stop in Gol, Norway for the 2020 Norwegian CrossFit Championship. The fans in attendance of this Sanctional were pleased with the action and athleticism on display by the competitors looking to punch their tickets to Madison. In the end, we now know the names of another man, woman, and team that will move on to the Games later this summer.
Men’s Results
After seven events it appeared that Nicolay Billaudel was going to be the last man standing but a late surge proved to be a worthy one for American Griffin Roelle. He took first place in both Events 8 and 9 to not only take the overall victory by 25 points, but also earn his qualification for the Games. The 28 year old will make his individual debut when he competes at the Games. He did compete as a part of CrossFit Dwala in the Teams division in 2018. They finished 31st.
Second place overall went to fellow American Josh Woodhull and Viktor Langsfed rounded out the podium. Billaudel would finish the competition in 4th place.

Women’s Results
Gabriela Migala came into this weekend as one of the favorites and didn’t disappoint those who were favoring her. Even though she only won one event throughout the weekend, she finished no lower than 10th in any of them so her ability to stay near the leaders of each event was what led her to being on top in points. She was already qualified for the Games but this victory certainly will boost her confidence going forward for the rest of the season.
The runner-up was Andrea Solberg. The only point she appeared to struggle was in the 8th event which was a three rep max (3RM) in the front squat. She finished 22nd there which may have been what cost her the victory. Sanna Venäläinen of Finland finishes the weekend in the bronze position but she also gets a greater prize than that. As the highest finisher not yet qualified for the Games, she gets the qualification spot here.
