In his 93KG debut, Russel Orhii set two world records in the squat and total at the 2025 North American Powerlifting Federation (NAPF) Pan American Championships. Orhii competed in the 93-kilogram class in Georgetown, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, from July 26 to Aug. 2.
Orhii hit a world record 355.5-kilogram squat en route to his 918-kilogram world record total. He bench pressed 207.5 kilograms and deadlifted 355 kilograms. He went six for nine in attempts, locking out two of three on each lift.
2025 NAPF North Regional Championships Results — Russel Orhii, 93KG
- Squat — 355.5 kilograms — World Record
- Bench Press — 207.5 kilograms
- Deadlift — 355 kilograms
- Total — 918 Kilograms — World Record
Orhii previously lifted in the 83KG class, but had announced his intentions to move to 93KG earlier in the year. He weighed in at 91.8 kilograms in the Cayman Islands, meaning his world record total was 10 times his bodyweight.
Orhii’s final meet at 83KG was his fourth-place finish at the 2025 Sheffield Powerlifting Championships. Despite not winning the overall championship, he scored world records in the squat and total. He also qualified for the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China, which will take place from Aug. 7-17. However, he declined the invite because of his jump to 93KG.
Orhii acknowledged coach Joseph Giovanni Ferratti, nutritionist Stephen Pham, and physical therapist Andy Nguyen for his preparation for the 2025 NAPF Regional Championships.
Time to focus on training for the rest of the year. I don’t want to compete next year. I want to show out.
—Russel Orhii
Orhii’s next meet is unknown at the time of this article’s publication, but if this performance was any indication, his rewriting of the record books is far from over.
