Sanctional Cancelation Tally Now Eleven, Reykjavik CrossFit Championship to Return in 2021
The Reykjavik CrossFit Championship alerted athletes via Instagram on Monday, that its SAnctioned event was officially canceled for the 2019-2020 season. It was originally scheduled to take place in Reykjavik, Iceland on April 3-5, 2020, but had previously been postponed until June 26-28. Eleven Sanctionals have now been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
One big thing: As we have covered in-depth, the cancelation puts event organizers in a difficult financial position. The RCC Instagram post noted, however, that “All registration fees and purchased tickets will be fully refunded through Eventbrite and Tix.is respectively, but the processing time might be slow due to a high number of refunds that need to be finalized so please bear with us.”
From the Instagram post: “We have been following the development of Covid19 and its effects on travel restrictions and the limitations put on larger events since the shut-down of most the world in March.”
- “We were hoping that our postponed dates would still be possible but as we are now moving into June, we are sorry to inform you that we will not be able to host the 2020 RCC on June 26th-28th,” the post read.
- “The partner gauntlet will return at the 2021 Reykjavik CrossFit Championship. We are excited to see you all in Iceland in 2021. And in the meantime, stay safe,” it concluded.
