Sara Schiff (125KG) Sets Masters Raw Deadlift World Record of 280 Kilograms (617.4 Pounds)

She claimed another world record at the 2023 WRPF American Pro 2!

The fifth deadlift world record of the weekend has fallen at the 2023 WRPF American Pro 2 meet in Manassas, VA. On Oct. 28, 2023, Sara Schiff completed a 280-kilogram (617.4-pound) deadlift on her opening attempt, setting a new raw world record in the Masters 45-49, 125-kilogram category her category. The new record lift can be seen below:

On her second attempt, Schiff attempted 300 kilograms (661 pounds). The barbell reached her knees, but the 48-year-old couldn’t lock it out. She went six for eight in attempts on the day, foregoing her final squat and deadlift attempts. Her best bench press was a new personal best — 145 kilograms (319.7 pounds). Schiff won her category unopposed. The summary of her day is below:

2023 WRPF American Pro Results — Sara Schiff, Masters 45-49, 125KG

  • Squat — 220 kilograms (485.1 pounds)
  • Bench Press — 145 kilograms (319.7 pounds)
  • Deadlift — 280 kilograms (617.4 pounds)
  • Total — 645 kilograms (1,422.2 pounds)

Before this meet, Schiff was best known for her raw deadlift lift of 287 kilograms (632.7 pounds), pulled at the 2021 Kern US Open in San Diego, CA. She owns the 110-kilogram raw world record deadlift of 247.5 kilograms (545.6 pounds) scored at the 2022 USPA Sonoma County Open.

Schiff was the fifth athlete to break a deadlift world record at this meet. On Oct. 27, 2023, Sawyer Klatt, Dorrell Petties, Nabil Akram Lahlou, and Liam Newell all set world records in their respective categories. According to Open Powerlifting, Schiff’s 280-kilogram pull in the superheavyweight category ranks second all-time behind the 290-kilogram raw deadlift by Tamara Walcott at the 2022 WRPF American Pro.

The American Pro 2 concludes on Sunday, Oct. 29. Fans who aren’t in Manassas can watch the action live on the WRPF AMERICAS — Professional Powerlifting YouTube channel free of charge.
