Support Your Favorite Restaurant with the Burpee Hour and Takeout
What started out as a simple, yet grueling workout held to support a local restaurant in need during the COVID-19 pandemic is now being shared as a worldwide movement initiative. 12 Labours CrossFit has created a free workout that anyone can participate in called “The Burpee Hour” that will take place on Saturday, May 2.
The bottom line: 12 Labours CrossFit, the organizers of the Mid-Atlantic CrossFit Challenge, are asking athletes to do as many burpees as possible in one hour.
- Athletes are asked to register for free online on Competition Corner and can start their workout at any time on May 2 but must submit their score no later than 8:00 pm EST to have their score reflect on the worldwide leaderboard.
- Afterward, the organizers encourage all participants to support their local restaurants by ordering takeout from within their respective communities.
- More information is available on the official Instagram page @theburpeehour and the organizers ask that all athletes use the hashtags #theburpeehour and #burpeesfortakeout to get reposted and to raise social awareness of the event.
- Athletes who participate will have their name displayed on a community leaderboard and have the ability to filter by gender, CrossFit affiliate, age, state, and country.
