USA Powerlifting Nationals was held from May 20-22nd in Colorado, and in case you missed the live streams, unofficial results and winners are already up on the USAPL’s site via Google Spreadsheet.
There were record lifts and some intense divisional battles, which is especially important considering only one athlete from each weight and age category will advance to the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) World Championships, which will be held this November in Orlando, Florida. The 2015 IPF Worlds were held in Luxembourg.
(Check out our infographic for a full list of USAPL weight classes.)
Check out the full — but still unofficial, pending drug tests, etc. — list of results here. It can be a lot to sort through, though we’ve included some of our favorite highlights below.
First up is two-time defending World Champion Priscilla Ribic’s American Record squat of 232.5kg. Ribic is in the 40-49 year old age category, though she’ll be defending her world title in Orlando in the Open Category (yeah, that’s damn impressive):
Ian Bell — a 93kg lifter — smoked this 821 pound squat on his way to winning the Junior category in his weight class by an astonishing 150 kilos:
And while Blaine Sumner walked away with the superheavyweight title — as expected — his victory wasn’t without a fight. Sumner was actually out-squatted by Joe Cappellino, who put up this monster 1,014 pound lift to win that portion of the competition (Sumner would end up besting him on the total by 30 kilos).
