And just like that, we’re already at the halfway point. Coming in live from Skyline CrossFit in Houston, Texas, CrossFit Games Director Dave Castro announced Open Workout 18.3. After last week’s heavy two-parter, fitness fanatics around the globe played the expected guessing game of movements, reps, time caps, and more. While many were expecting a repeat, this Open workout is brand new.
CrossFit Open Workout 18.3 is:
As always, athletes start on a 3, 2, 1 countdown before beginning the workout.
2 Rounds for Time with a 14 minute time cap:
100 Double-Unders
20 Overhead Squats (115lbs/80lbs)
100 Double-Unders
12 Ring Muscle-Ups
100 Double-Unders
20 Dumbbell Snatch (50lbs/35lbs)
100 Double-Unders
12 Bar Muscle-Ups
As usual, athletes registered for the Open will have until Monday at 5pm PST to submit their scores online.
That’s right, folks. A total of 800 double-unders in order to complete both rounds.

Castro’s announcement was followed shortly by a throwdown between Masters competitors Kyle Kasperbauer and Neal Maddox. Both are multi-time Reebok CrossFit Games competitors as Individuals, and last year they topped the podium at the first-ever Games competition for 35-39 year old males. (Kasperbauer came in first with Maddox winning the silver medal.) Kasperbauer is the only athlete in Games history to make the podium as an Individual, Master, and member of a Team.
Last year marked the start of a budding rivalry, though Maddox has aged into the next division for Masters athletes, so a head-to-head matchup on 18.3 will be the best chance to see the two athletes compete against each other this year.
